Why does Pittsburgh trade Murray for Andersen 1-for-1? For the right to get his $5M cap hit when they need to cut cap?

For the people confused, Murray for Andersen is being rumoured constantly, so it’s more likely than you think, however it will probably be a three team trade since the pens have Jarry and DeSmith, so they would then flip Andersen to someone else for picks and specs (note Andersen can get them more than Murray would)

No, it was something made up by Kyprios that he admitted that he made up when he said it. But Leaf fans jumped on it like it was gospel.

I mean it makes sense though, so I can still see it happening

Not from the Pittsburgh side. And you has said, "For the people confused, Murray for Andersen is being rumoured constantly," I just wanted to clarify who it is that is actually confused, and why.

I wasn’t confused. I said that because I’ve seen a lot of people freaking out on why there are Andersen and Murray trades

Andersen is better than Murray though. Also can be flipped. It's better than having Murray be an RFA and needing to sign him long-term.

Andersen is not better.
Why trade to Andersen in order to flip him when you can just trade Murray for what you "want" in the first place?
Why would they need to sign Murray long term?

For the first two, it's because it's plainly obvious that Murray is better. Even in a down year this year, Andersen was better. Behind bad defensive teams he puts up consistently above average numbers. Murray was one of the worst goalies in the league this year and behind a good defensive team. He was garbage. Over the last three seasons, he's league average.

A one-year deal for Murray brings him to UFA. If you are going to do that, take the better goalie for one season. He's looking for a pay day and there is no cost certainty with how much it would take to sign him this year (and if arbitration is needed) or long term?

But then again, I've seen you argue that Jack Johnson isn't terrible? So maybe you just have no clue what you are talking about.
