You're going to replace Andersen with Matt Murray? I'm sorry but if you're going to trade Andersen away, wouldn't you want to take a run at like Lehner or Markstrom? I feel like you're going backwards in the goaltending department in this one.

That’s been blowing my mind.... Blame Anderson for not being able to get past first round well if this team hasn’t got past that hump with Anderson do the math where is a step backwards going to land you? All due respect to leafs nation take a few breaths think this one out

You are dubs with the first trade. Trading a soft player with skill for another soft player with a shot. You don't need any more soft players. You need grit and defense badly. Having just Clifford isn't going to cut it and this lineup what their "plan" is never going to win a cup. Its a terrible recipe for the playoffs as everyone can see. Unless dubas doesn't learn or get help that this lineup is never going to win, I'm sorry leafs fans.

It wasn't Freddy fault this year no way. Look at his stats in the playoffs this year.

Andersen is 3-7 with a 3.54 GAA // .877svs% in potential series clinching playoff games. It's time for a change

Agreed. I thought the defensive coverage was a lot to blame for the goals against. Andersen let in some soft goals but I saw a lot of High Danger chances against that could've been avoided by better defense. Could they stand for better goaltending? Sure, but I don't think that's why they lost this series.

I agree that it's not the best for the jets, but I guess you could argue that Nylander is as good if not better overall than Laine and he's under a long term deal (4 more years at just under 7); where as Laine (I fear) will ask for north of 9 after next season. Copp is more of a complete player than Kerfoot, but I would like the jets to add him in a separate deal for futures and keep Copp.
I would still decline if Im the jets though. If they dealt Laine it would need to be for a huge package that fills holes (see what I did there?). Those holes being either a 2C or top dman

The Laine trade isn't really worth it for either team.

Jets say no, Laine has taken a bit of a step backwards but he's still better than Nylander.
The only thing Nylander has going for him is the contract but the Leafs have no incentive to make that trade knowing that Laine will have ridiculous ask for his next contract.

I understand the pain I understand the heart break I do but this from an outside a clear example of overreacting. Don’t swap out the better goalie just for the sake of it and expect better results.

Take out Engvall (we have enough bottom-6 forwards) and substitute your second rounder and we'll add our sixth rounder.

Whole hardly agree this series loss against CBJ was not Andersen's fault. You have to score, and our 2% shooting percent (lol) did not get it done. But this is a glaring stat, when we had to lead in both game 7's against the B's we needed a save and didn't get it. Andersen has been amazing for us since we traded for him. Probably our MVP 3 out of the 5 years he has been here. But we will not be resigning him and I don't want to see another FA walk out the door and we get nothing back. This team needs a new look, a new goalie

See I can understand and completely respect that opinion absolutely 100% but I can’t wrap my head around thinking Murray is that answer. I can see teams all around Toronto improving the playoffs aren’t going to be getting any easier to make. Not discrediting the leafs but buffalo did start last year in good shape I wouldn’t be considering them a push over next year. Ottawa who knows but some serous talent is heading there. Montreal is proving to be capable of more than expected. I really think need to be less concerned about a series clinching game and more about getting there. I mean no disrespect towards leafs by saying that.

Agree, I don't think Murray is the answer either. My ideal target is Lehner. Although he may cost too high a Cap hit. My preferred route is a young goalie who can grow with the talent on this team and be 1a 1b with Cambell. Plus be cost effective. I.E Demko, Adin Hill, Alexander Georgiev, Conner Ingram, Tristan Jarry.

Hindsight leafs clearly shouldn’t have done that Carolina deal and the best answer in my opinion could end up taken with that pick. I know what is done is done but that would have made it a lot easier to ride our Anderson then let him walk. Not to mention that deal kinda pisses me off because of it we can’t make hockey trades on here without everyone called a cap dump and expecting firsts.

although the team did not score....Freddy still let at least 1 bad goal a game........and this is now 4 years of not advancing....time for a change.....but not just in net......the team needs more grit and defense minded forwards

I agree with that but also can't rely on Freddie every game when there is only 2 players on our dcore that can play D(Above average). Dermott hasn't improved from last year and hold should be playing on the bottom pairing and they were playing him top 4 min. Barrie was a disaster.

i think with Freddy it's just a mater of need a change cause it's been 4 years....he was not bad this round but still let in some stinkers....hate to give up on Dermott, he and Holl should be our 3rd pairing guys but because of the cap situation they are forced to play bigger roles than they can or are ready for.
