Description
So game 1 was pretty bad, shutout at even strength. All I can say is what was JC Thinking trying to beat Vegas at their own game? We’re not a defensive team by any stretch of the imagination and we shouldn't try to be if that means sacrificing our scoring chances. Crawford let in two poor goals, and our 4th line was regularly burnt tonight. I thought Nylander was inoffensive both is in play and production, (even though he fed Strome for a goal post, had a couple takes ways, and broke through the Vegas defense more than Patrick Kane tonight). I think it's pretty inexcusable that JC didn't even try to pull the goalie, and I'll let you guys debate what that says to the team. I'm thinking Carpenter is the weak link on our 4th line, I saw him dump a puck in from behind center ice which is a rookie move (Nylander would be crucified for that LOL)

For game 2 we need to be better and we need lineup changes, in the oilers series we got by on tipped shots from our blue lines, but luck can only go so far.

I'm taking Nylander out of the lineup because poor play from the team ultimately falls on his head. Time to sit bud, you're too good for us anyways.

Keys to game 2

Score more goals than Vegas (Otherwise known as play our game)

Sit Nylander, and let's see how the hawks do with ”stupid Sikura” in the game

Get quality goaltending (or don't allow 2 softies)

Find new line combos that work.

Anyways, this video just got recommended to me by YouTube. I don't have a cat and I find this to be a nice distraction.

Thoughts on what led you to choose Kampf over Carpenter? I know Kampf scored but it seems to me carpenter is a little better. I like your lines though, including Hagel and Sikura. Nylander could have been worse against Vegas but he still needs some time to develop it seems, what do you think Stan?

I would go
8-19-88
12-77-20
3rd and 4th lines here
I think with Debrincat looking speedy and active, and Dach being a capable center, I think its time to go nuclear, but with slightly less repercussions.
I think Nylander and Strome looked fine. Caggiula was just zooming around but he never really accomplished anything. I would swap him with Highmore.

The lines are my desperate attempt to get both Kane and Debrincat to do something. They were hardcore shut down tonight and something has got to change. The second line is to make it that Dach has no one to defer to anymore, because the kid won't shoot for some reason.

I took Carpy out because he had a tough game and our 4th line has been getting dominated lately, highmore has been great and Kampf was solid. Carpy made a couple errors tonight.

I thought Nylander was one of our better forwards at 5 on 5 tonight, but people are losing their sh*t over him being in the lineup and I'm sick of seeing it. I am genuinely curious to see how the fans react to a poor game with him being out of the lineup.

I could see that, but we need Strome and Debrincat together. Caggulia would be nice on the 4th line, he's an offensive black hole otherwise.

If we arent sacrificing Nylander to the Hockey gods these could be interesting lines.

(Start Sikura with Strome and Cat but when it's realized he's a useless bed wetter bump him down)

I don’t think we played that poorly, I think it was a poor strategy on JC. In the first period the hawks played dump and chase, they got the pucks deep but Vegas is so strong me defensively we weren’t getting the pucks back.

In the second the forwards were forced to get more creative which ultimately led to forwards being out of position opening up the ice for the odd man rush going the other way.

Crawford never saw the first goal, the shot that was stuck under highmore and left on the goaline is tough luck. Crawford needs to be better on the other two goals. The one in the shoulder is a routine save, breakaways are never easy to criticize but crow was down early and his glove looked like a brick was tied to it.

The second half of the third period the hawks made a real push, Vegas was just the better team.

Seems you echo my thoughts but with a bit more optimism. I don't think we got our chances today. Something needs to change.

I really wish Dach would shoot more, too. He'll learn eventually but to take his game up a notch he needs to be more of a scoring threat, he has the shot for it. Hopefully the Cat and Strome could rekindle their magic if these lines happen and sikura is a good option to feed debrincat. Not sure why Colliton played quenville over him against Edmonton, despite his previous playoff experience. Nylander had one sequence when he went really hard at the defender on the forecheck and then back checked hard too using his speed which I was impressed by.

I like Hagel in for Nylander but I don't like sakura in for carpenter. IMO carpenter wasn't that bad and the 4th line has been surprisingly very good together. The top 3 lines need to be jumbled up, but the 4th should stay the same. I like DeBrincat and Strome back together. We need to get Strome going. Defensively we were surprisingly pretty good, just need to find a way to generate more chances (play our game) like you said
