Leafs would have run 21 to start the year this season if there weren't injuries throughout the season. Their AHL team is in the same city, calling players up is easy when they're at home. Once they accumulate enough cap space for 22, they're good to go.

Yeah a bunch of AHLer call-ups to fill copius injuries for bonafide NHLer's like a year ago is exactly the new model all the other clubs are hoping to adopt from TML; if they want to win the coveted Calder Cup that is!
