Why do you assume Leafs want DeAngelo for some reason?

leafs don’t want a younger tyson barrie who is more toxic then a middle school relationship.

I know laf is the better player today however I’d strongly consider Byfield instead. He’s nearly a year younger which is significant difference in draft class age. Not taking anything at all away from laf but between the two I really think Byfield has more room to grow his game. Rangers and jets are the two teams if won lottery I think would benefit more from Byfield than laf.

most people are aware Byfield has the highest ceiling of the draft...Lafreniere's floor is higher and his ceiling is still a franchise player

Thinking it’s tough not to include Byfield as a franchise player as well. I’m more suggestion it should be strongly considered from rangers point of view because they did just lock up Krieder long term and have Panarin LW is great but the chance to have 2 number 1C with that much upside is extremely unlikely to come around again. At the end of the day rangers really can’t go wrong here unless they kinda blow everyone’s mind and take drysdale out of nowhere haha
