He's a bottom 4/3rd pair Dman. Not even remotely close to proper value for Kapanen even with Bellows.

Id say Mayfield + Bellows works when it comes to value but Id rather have a pick instead of Bellows.

Mayfield wouldn't make the Leafs roster. He's right handed and fits in the Islanders don't move from the front of your own net system. Get him moving and he's not worthy of a roster spot.

That wasn't a problem in this series though? So what do they exactly need? Their depth (which I clearly over valued) did nothing, they blew defensive assignments and stayed to the outside doing nothing. This "The Leafs desperately need a right handed defenceman at all costs" is overblown and frankly just lazy. It's not only wrong there just isn't any evidence to support it. Columbus kept them to the outside in the offensive zone and capitalized when the high forward failed to support a pinch. Go look at replays. That is how Columbus scored almost all of their goals. What would Mayfield so to help that? Apart from taking longer to recover because he's slow? Mayfield isn't a difference maker. He's just a slow stay at home defenceman. Gudbranson type of player. He can't play against top competition and doesn't move the needle at all. Hard pass.

But who do they have that you can put on the rightside and shut down top lines with Muzzin. Mayfield has been in the Top 4 for the past 2 years. Check his underlying states

The Leafs want a Top 4 RH defensemen but are not willing to give up what it realistically takes. Your cap problems will be use use against you in trade negotiations.

Every Islander has terrible underlying stats. Their team has had 2 years of above average goaltending from high danger areas. Mayfield is nothing special. You can keep him

I think you are delusional to think that you guys do not need Two Right Handed defensemen. Look at all the 2 one 1 rushes that the Leafs give up. They need considerable amount of help and no gm is going to give you top 4 defense men on unrealistic trades that Leafs fans come up with.
