My guess is there's no point in Minnesota selling Stalock unless they get something noteworthy back. If I had to guess, the trade discussions begin with that 2020 COL 2nd.

I'd stay as far away from Matheson as possible. Yes, Burns is overpaid, but at least he isn't getting healthy scratched in high-stakes playoff games. That Panthers trade is just all sorts of bad for us, from the mediocre return to the retention on Burns.

Also Ho-Sang is apparently off to the KHL making him essentially worthless. Not sure if that's factored into that Islanders trade, but it looks fine either way.

Compher + Jost + 2nd feels like an overpayment given the year Labanc just had.

Agree, take one of Compher or Jost plus the 2nd for LeBlanc straight up.

Essentially a 2nd line wing in exchange for a 3C plus a 2nd. Both Compher and Jost have had 2nd line minutes at one point or another while COL stick handled thru injuries this season

Is Labanc a top six player? I think that's the main question. If the answer is yes, I wouldn't mind sending two roster players the other way, since Bowers could theoretically fill that C position

I appreciate the input but to suggest that Bowers is capable of holding the 3C position and doing a good job, is a mistake. He’s played 1 full season in the AHL and was awful the first half of the season.

He’s 1 year away from full time NHLer, 2 years away from being a capable 3C.

LeBlanc is probably somewhere between an okay 2nd liner and a really good 3rd liner (hence why I think just one of Compher/Jost + 2nd is enough)

Bowers (and Newhook) are still 1 year away from the NHL, so we can't be trading away both Jost and Compher or else we won't have a 3C.

Labanc is a decent top 6 forward, but he's a bit one-dimensional and is coming off a bad season. He wouldn't be my first choice and I'd only want him if he didn't cost too much to acquire.

With Bednar you can't get caught up with rating lines 1-4. Compher has been used as a 4C. Bellmare is a capable bottom six C paired with Calvert. That leaves one bottom six C position that's not hard to fill.

That being said, if Labanc is Donskoi, then it's just not a fit. Avs would be better off chasing Reinhart or Mantha

My dude, what are you on about?
How many COL games you watch start to finish this year?

1C MacKinnon
2C Kadri
3C Compher or Jost
4C Bellemare or Jost
Kamenev also had a few 4C starts too
COL clearly has 1-2 C’s too many as it is, why are you pushing Bowers into 3C still?

LeBlanc is better than Donskoi

I’m debating the AGM in front of me, not going to get into the other 20+ wingers in the league who also would be a good/better fit

I watched every single game bruh. I've seen almost every game the Colorado Avalanche have ever played, because in the 90s we didn't have the convenience of DVR, and VCRs were a pain in the butt. Espn had a sweet show called NHL2Night hosted by Kenny Mayne, Michael Kim, or JB, and it was a great show with lots of attitude; good way to stay informed when time was short.

Compher is an adequate NHL player, but certainly not core or indispensable.

Never stated Compher was core or indispensable. I argued Bowers wasn’t ready as a 3C

I'd probably say yes to the Isles deal. Gambrell could be good if he can play wing and center. Could maybe take Cizikas' spot in 2021-22 if he doesn't re-sign.

Kaut looked pretty good and if not for his contract, probably have stuck, and we wouldn't have Namestnikov rn. Sakic is fully prepared to roll with Byram as a rookie starting D, with no prior professional experience. By all accounts, Bowers has been improving and looked good at this recent camp AND Bednar really likes him. Plus Bowers had time in college already. You'd be playing him beside veteran NHLers; I think it's a fine situation to have him succeed.

On Bowers, let’s just agree to disagree friend.
Byram is a different scenario given he can’t go to the AHL you are kinda forced to bring him up. He was way ahead of his peers for 2019, which makes sense for the early call up
