It's not rude to have an opinion. I disagree with your evaluation though. Manson has been on the Ducks Top Pair for years. He is a complimentary D man who can handle Tough D zone assignments, PK duties and high end competition as evidenced by his time with Lindholm. The last 2 years have been bad for ALL Ducks players. I think calling him a okay #4 is underselling him. As a Ducks fan, I am only moving Manson IF he brings in a top end talent. If hes not enough to get that conversation started Id much rather keep him.
Playing in a particular role in itself is not an accomplishment. Who else could they have reasonably played above him the last while? He does get the tough match-ups, but he's handled them pretty averagely over the last couple of years (good this year, not so good last year) and considering his defense is the big selling point for him, anything short of 'great' in that category isn't likely to fetch a top end talent. He's pretty good at shutting down the opposition and he's tough, but that's really about what you're getting. Doesn't contribute much offense, not great but not horrible possession-wise... Maybe 'okay' was a bit harsh, but he's not more than a #4 Dman, imo. Having said that, I would like Manson on the Leafs and have defended that statement against fellow Leafs fans in the past. But that is an astronomical price for what he is.
Aside from all of that, though, there would be legitimate question as to whether the Leafs protect Holl or Manson in the ED. Manson would have one year left whereas Holl would have two at half the price. If Holl is replicates his quite good season, he would probably be the more reasonable choice, meaning the Leafs lose Manson after one year. There are other outcomes surrounding that, of course, but none of them are really ideal.
