Description

Hall is a no-brainer for this team. Namestnikov is rock solid and an upgrade over Compher at W at roughly the same cost if Bowers can slot into the 3C.

The three players moved are cap for futures trades to allow for the FA signings, but tried to estimate the right value.

Looking forward to make sure the Avs dont land up in Cap Hell.

Making these moves leaves $20M + someone lost (Bura, Donskoi, Namestnikov) to the 21-22 expansion draft. Call it $24M for 21-22. Assuming some resigning and promotions:
1. Makar - 9M x 8yrs
2. Landy - 6.5M x 6 yrs (the Kreider deal)
3. Grub - $4m x 3 yrs
4. Byram - $925k x 3 yrs (prob added in 2020)
5. Calvert - 2.5M x 2 yrs (if needed...or less $ can be spent on a 4C)

This equals out to $23M (with an extra $1m for Landy if needed)

Cole stays one more year to pair with Timmons
Bowers gets to solid W's for his first full year
Kadri only significant FA for 22-23
23-24 MacKinnon raise is basically Johnson's salary coming off the books

I think you have this all backwards,

You sign Namestnikov bc you like what he does in the Top 6 especially on the MacK line, you dont sign him and hall bc then whats the point especially moving out Compher in order to do so.
And if you were trying to fit both in, you arent moving Jost out who would be a cheap filler piece in the bottom 6.

Avs cant afford to do both Name and Hall.

Rebuilding teams don't trade away picks like that. In addition, they're two players that would have to be protected in the expansion draft. Kings say no.

Hall or Namestikov, not both. The Avs realistically have one need that is larger than any other and that’s another high quality top 6 wing. Unfortunately I think someone like EDM is going to over pay on Namestikov, and unless he takes a shorter deal I think Hall signs somewhere else too.

Edmonton is screwed cap wise, they have 10m in cap space and ened to sign a goalie, Athanasiou, Ethan bear, and mathew benning. They wont be able to add pricier UFAs unless they find suckers to take their over paid bottom depth guys

oh i Know what you are saying, some bubble team will see his producing on the Avs and get all hot and sweaty about him.
I hope he signs a 2 year deal with the Avs, pad those stats during the flat cap and then hit it big when hes hitting UFA at 29ish
