Description

Assuming no Laf 1st overall pick. Need a righty for the PP and to complete the top six.

Based on recent rumors that Vancouver and their dumb cap situation is looking to deal him.

Basically just giving up another 1st round pick to load up for the final two years of Crosby, Malkin, Letang together.

Vancouver gets a cheap NHL level LD with good underlying numbers (that Mike Sullivan just doesn't like for some reason). Rodrigues is also a useful bottom six guy that can play each position. Hallander is a B- prospect.

Poulin gets a chance to win Simon's spot on the third line in camp.

DeMelo is a huge upgrade on the third pairing.

They have 7 days to decide to keep the pick and then next year's unprotected pick become's Minnesota's. Nothing to stop them from trading that pick to another team.

If you say so I must be wrong I knew they had 7 days but I thought once decided to keep they are required to use the pick.

Fun fact. #1 wingers that are part of a team’s young core on good contracts will only be traded if the piece coming back fills a major team need. If Marino is too steep a price, then there is no trade to be had
