And it definitely wouldn't be Ottawa's 2nd...

Bracco will walk, I strongly believe he will never dress as a leaf just due to the attitude problems that are rumored to be about him, and if this is your signing of pietrangelo then what happens next year and the year after when we need to sign Rielly and Andersen ?

Due to the fact there will be a flat cap for potentially the next 4 years there is no way that all of the big 4 will be able to be kept

That leaves Nylander to be traded. Everyone else has to deal with the flat cap. Makes Matthews, Tor won't trade him, Tavares, NMC, and Marner real tough to deal...

yeah why would Ottawa want a pair of young 20g/40+pt wingers and a young C that has twice had 40+pts already when they can keep 2nd rd picks that have yielded them absolutely nothing in recent memory.

go back a DECADE and the most successful sens 2nd rd is Shane prince with 128 games...dude is now in the KHL
keep the picks. one of em might be an NHLer one day

they arent dealing any of them

Moving a Johnsson/Kerfoot/Kapanen probably gives them 3.5-4ish to throw at a dman either via trade or UFA

Nylander isnt going anywhere. Neither is Marner,Matthews,JT. Typical overreaction as usual. Teams dont get better trading their best players, they get worse generally

I don't think Johnsson is a regular 20 goal scorer in the NHL. He had 8 goals in 43 games this year. Also Kerfoot is a good 3C, but the Sens don't need another 3C. They have Tierney and White who are both solid 3Cs, and they have Norris and Brown who could end up in that role depending on how the draft shakes out, though I think both have higher upside than that.

These guys aren't bad players, but they're all guys who are best suited to 3rd line roles. The Sens are composed predominantly of players who are better suited to 3rd line roles. They should absolutely look to use the insane depth of picks/prospects to add at the NHL Level, but they need to add to the top of their lineup, not the middle.

Teams don't also have 33 million dollar lines to try and win playoff games. win or lose today, i don't see this as an over reaction. i see this as the sad reality of a hand that covid has dealt them. If the cap was what it would be projected pre pandemic then youre looking at probably an 85 mil cap. which is why you'd be fine cause the cap would only continue to climb. but thats no longer the case so sadly you can't keep all 4 players. I love marner but to pay 10.9 for a winger in a clearly horribly defensive team I think that if the contract can be moved its what needs to be done. I don't see this as an over reaction as clearly leafs have not been ready for playoff hockey for a while now. anyone watching the game tonight would have seen your juggernaut line doing all the work and realize that all your depths guys weren't doing anything really productive. I do think nylander goes and depending on draft and free agency they listen to offers of marner if any.

You can’t have 5 players taking up close to 50 million. This will be the same old leafs. First round exit.
