I can't even be upset, that's just funny man. Utterly humiliating. Worst loss in the history of the franchise

They'll be back with a chip on their shoulder next year. Marino is only going to get better, they won't have a goalie controversy hanging over their heads, and they might even be able to get a good free agent.

For the next 3 days we're going to hear nothing but whining from Penguins fans about how MTL shouldn't have made the playoffs and this shouldn't have happened.
And then, at 6 PM EST, all that will suddenly go away.

Disagree. There are a few that will be like that no doubt, but those arent the ones who have been on board with the team for yearssssss. The actual fans knew that pittsburgh has zero scoring depth and a 3rd pairing that is utterly atrocious

I hope Minnesota or CBJ just wins Laffy so there’s no complaining

I want to see FLA win it the most.
I think division rivals in the NHL have this sort of "sibling rivalry". We like to **** on each other but at the same time, somewhat root for each other..? I guess?
It'd be fun to actually have some competition in Florida. People really underestimate the power of PR and marketing, and getting Lafreniere would be huge for the organization

That’s true, Florida desperately needs a new and exciting player to get fans in south Florida pumped for some hockey. Also, Laf would eliminate some of the pain they’ll have when Dadonov and Hoffman both leave in FA.

it's the homers on this site that tried to make it sound like this was a deep team and say things like Sheary is a good player on sids line. The jackass can't even stay on his feet.
Sid is 33, he needs help. Especially when he's battling an injury.
And the coach is a moron. Who sticks your 2nd line of malkin Zucker and rust with Jack Johnson and Schultz.
I'f I'm malkin I'm waling right up to GMJR and saying, Sullivan needs to go.
Just horrible coaching. There is no reason Marleau should have played 4 games. Especially when you bench McCann.
There is also no reason JJ should have played 4 games. Riikola might as well be traded.

We’re you saying this stuff when Washington got ovi? Or when the flyers jumped all the way to get Patrick? Or do you just pick and choose which teams you think the nhl rigs for?

It does not stem from the winning the lottery alone. The optics of your win makes it more apt for conspiracy. The team’s all-time leader is fading out. The team is strong-arming the league and city by actively looking to relocate because they are actually bankrupt and can not get funding for a new stadium... and then poof. The year after getting Malkin at 2, you get Crosby without losing a game that year.

Realistically, it is 95% jealousy with 5% skepticism. Crosby was the best all-around player in the game for a decade (if not longer) and is the type of player that changes the direction of a franchise.... like he did for the Pens. The verge of bankruptcy and relocation to multiple championships.

You realize they were never going to relocate, right?

Yes, I know that it is a tactic that teams use to scare up public funding. That’s why I’m paying for your stadium when my own funded ours himself.

About which part?
Kansas City - https://www.pensburgh.com/2012/2/14/2791955/mario-lemieux-was-much-closer-to-moving-the-penguins-than-hed-like
PPG arenas - Ownership brought $15.5 million to the table with $15 million a year from the government for 30 years ($450 million). We can argue semantics that this is tax revenue from other streams, but at the end of the day the money the state and city can spend on infrastructure and education is lower because we are paying for the Pens' arena.
Wells Fargo Center - $185.5 million in private loans and contribution from Spectacor. $32 million by City and state made contributions for infrastructure - a one-time payment to facilitate the project.

The long and short of it is, you twice hit the jackpot and got players that every NHL team would have happily taken at anypoint of their careers. Those types of players are few and far between. Other fans just don't want to see it happen again... especially when your should have been deep in playoff mode. It's not like your team was bad this year (outside of Jack Johnson - he's terrible).
