Description

I think the Rangers mostly stand pat this offseason. They have to avoid buyouts at all costs, we can't afford more dead space. In order to get under the cap I think Strome or DeAngelo has to go, and I feel a 60 pt forward is more replaceable than a 60 pt Dman. I've liked what I've seen from Chytil and think he can fill Strome's spot.

Trading a 1st for Strome seems like a very Buffalo move...

Barron probably won't be ready for the NHL, but the Rangers can sign some defensively sound bottom 6 C to fill that spot if needed.

Trading any 1st rounder for Ryan Strome would be profoundly stupid. The Sabres fired the “special” GM who bent over in every trade, so they don’t do that. Ryan’s numbers are due to playing with Panarin, outside the Eichel line buffalo doesn’t have a scorer like that. Dylan is the Strome I’d trade for, and even he isn’t necessarily worth a high 1st.

I don’t know if I’d label Ryan Strome a 60pt center riding Panarin’s coat tail all season nor is he returning what is potentially another top 10 pick next year. Usually in a cap causality the team needing to sell doesn’t have any leverage.

He's not a cap casualty if and when NYR buy out Henrik. See the link below as an example. I expect them to sign him to a 4-5 deal. Whether you like that or not is another question haha.
