Description
Sometimes you see trades like:
Freddie and a 2nd for Jarry

Or Nylander for Roy

Freddie was the best of the Leafs in two games so far. 1 goali in total, 0.982 save percentage, calm, good presence. wake up. Andersen is an elite goalie

Also, Nylander is just a fantastic offensive player who is extremely gifted in skating, puck handling in front of the net as well as getting players open. Of course the Leafs played much better yesterday, but Matthews had 6 shots when he was with Nylander in game one and only 3 in game two, Tavares had 2 shots in game one and 8 in game two with Nylander. This is not all due to Nylander, but he plays his part of getting guys open

Some people just live in a different world.

Those same people also live in the world where people think Andreas Johnnson and Pierre Engvall are worth a ton of value

When did you ever see Nylander for Roy? Haha. That's the first I've heard of that one. Wouldn't surprise me though.

I don’t know if Andersen is Elite, he plays against CBJ offense, not a big threat. Like Murray against MTL offense, not a big threat even if he puts up good numbers ... but he’s good tho

He is an allstar, has solid career numbers in both regular- and postseason. And during the last years he saved the Leafs a lot when they decided that playing defence is boring.

Not saying that he is better than Price, but over his career, they have the same save percentage in the regular season and Andersen has the better playoff save percentage. I know that that stats are everything, but I also don't deny that Price is still elite.

I would say over the last 3 years, he is among the 10 best goalies in the NHL

I would be on the fence re: Andersen being elite if it were just his numbers in Anaheim. He had great D in front of him, and they made some goalies look a lot better than they were (Hiller, Bryz, Giguere in the latter part...guy was a tank when he went on his Conn Smythe run though...), but with Toronto, as @Gordon_Bombay said, he gets hung out to dry on a regular basis. IMO, it's why the numbers are somewhat inconsistent. I'd say the same thing about Price though (And yes, Price > Andersen), and, as a Ducks fan, the same thing about Gibby.

Yes, he is an all-star. An all-star that has given up more goals like the first CBJ game, than any other goalie. He just always gives up the bad goal. Having said that, do you just let him walk? I don’t think so.

"When People Lose Their Mind", (Gordon Bombay) they attempt the triple deke on a penalty shot. smile By the way, the best way to defend the Flying V is to check the first player into the next two, who then fall into the next two. Though the Flying V might be effective against an overly finesse team like Toronto.

When people lose their mindWATCH THREAD

Strange when the Leafs lost the first game to CBJ, I read that on CF, that Leafs have no grit, or any good RHD. Leafs win game 2, not one comment on CBJ not having grit or RHD Jones poor decision leading to the Leafs second goal.

The question if not if you trade him or not, but for sure not with a 2nd round pick for a backup like Jarry. And most goalies give up bad goals. He is also saving a lot of goals with world class saves, like he did not Bjorkstrand in game 1.

I see that after 30 years, people figured out a way to defend my flying V. what if that first guy is Dustin Byfuglien who is hard to knock over, especially if the second guys would be Tom Wilson type players who would also push him forward?

It goes both ways. I think roughly 8% of the entire internets HTML is dedicated to leaf fans posting an ACGM of trading a third liner, a prospect that stinks, and a 4th for Brett Pesce. Then an equal amount goes to the typical trade of 5 things that leafs fans don’t really care about, for an elite D, because “that’s so much value!!!”
