The Kings have an embarrassment of riches in their prospect pool, and plenty of money coming off the books in the coming few years. $10 million in cap being paid to Phaneuf and Kovalchuk this season, which drops to just over $1 million in 2021-22. Brown and Carter have expiring contracts in 2 years, freeing up $11 million, and Quicks $5 million in 3 years. With a ton of ELC for the next few years, now is the time to capitalize!
Sergachev Trade:
Well.. I’m not sure about this. I’m never good with values lol. LA have a ton of C prospects including Kupari, Turcotte, Vilardi, and Thomas. Although they just acquired Madden at the deadline, I feel like they could afford to move him (or another one of the C). Tampa would benefit by getting 3 good young players who are all on ELC, and capable of stepping into the big leagues (I think?) Acquiring Clague also “replaces” Sergachev on the left side. *Not saying he steps right in and is Sergy 2.0. Just fills the LD hole with Sergy being moved*
Deangelo Offeesheet:
The Rangers are loaded on the right side with Trouba, Fox, and Deangelo. I’m not sure if any can play on the left side. They have Lindren on the left, and Miller and Hajek on the way. So maybe they keep Deangelo. But I think and offer sheet to solidify LA defence couldn’t hurt. Maybe NYR says thank you and matches, or maybe they say “hello draft picks” and let him go.
Second Overall Trade:
Ok, so.. Byfield right? Apparently the highest ceiling out of the top prospects. The Kopitar replacement. The future!!! Ooooorr do they go after the multi positional forward in Stutzle. Either way, LA moves down and passes on a really good player. But hey, there’s really good players available at 5 too, and you add a mid first on top of that! Does LA take a Sanderson or Drysdale to load up the back end, which could nullify the Deangelo offersheet, or are they taking a Perfetti/Holtz/Rossi? Who knows. Maybe if they’re super lucky Askarov slides to the mid round pick, or more likely, they take a Bourque/Mysak who should be around the 20th pick, and give him a couple years to develop.
As always... I hope you enjoy this. Now rip me apart for whatever I’ve done wrong lol.
Le salaire annuel moyen (AAV) de l'offre hostile est calculé en divisant la valeur totale du contrat par: 1. La durée totale du contrat, ou 2. Cinq ans
Huge overpayment for Sergcahev. Madden and Kaliyev are expected to be future top 6ers. Clague is kind of a wild card at this point. His ceiling is a top 4 LD, but I doubt he ever reaches that. I'm sure the Kings would consider any of Kupari, Grundstrom, Durzi, and Spence.
I highly doubt Kings pass on Stutzle/Byfield even if it's for 5OA and a mid 20's pick.
1) If the Kings trade #2, it will be for #3. I can't see them moving out of the top-3 at all when the need in LA right now is Quality, not Quantity. As you pointed out, they're already a loaded prospect pool. As such, they need a franchise changer not more middle 6 players. To me that's the #2 pick, whoever they decide to go with. Not the #5 and someone else.
2) Kaliyev should be one of the few nearly untouchables. Not saying he couldn't ever be included in a trade, but as possibly the only sniper in a prospect pool full of playmakers Arthur isn't the prospect the Kings will eventually be shopping.
3) Rebuilding teams don't get rid of 1st round picks. Offer sheets are something I've explored, but I'll never go over the price of a 2nd round pick. It just doesn't make sense for LA, even if they're almost out of the rebuild.
4) Prokhorkin won't be returning to LA. He has signed a contract in the KHL.
5) Not sure if you paid attention to the lines or just let Capfriendly populate them, but there's a lot wrong there.
I think the only way the 2 pick gets traded is for 1. Highly doubt Kings drop back
I should have said "If the Kings trade #2, it will be for #1 or #3." I agree they'd look at moving up to #1. If they like Stutzle more than Byfield, I'd think they would explore giving the Sens the option to pick #2 for their #1C of the future... at the cost of an extra pick somewhere.
I could see the Kings trading the #2 to Ottawa for the #3 and #20-something overall picks. That would allow Blake to punt the Byfield/Stutzle decision and make it a very easy choice. They're not going to move out of the top 3 though. Not sure it's worth it to Ottawa to give up a late 1st round pick when there's a 50/50 chance that the player that they want will still be available at #3.
Too much for Sergachev. There were some proposals floating around yesterday which included Kupari, Clague, and the VGK 2nd for Sergachev's rights. That's a more realistic trade. I don't think he's going anywhere though. I think Tampa re-signs him to an 8-year deal and moves out others to make the cap work.
Pass on Deangelo, especially at that price point. The Kings 2021 1st is off the table, meaning offer sheets this summer are off the table. If the Kings were to consider an offer sheet in the future (they won't), it won't happen until after the expansion draft.
Prokhorkin signed a contract with Metallurg of the KHL. He won't be returning.
Walker is going to get significantly more than that.

I can't see the Kings paying the exorbitant price that it would take to move up from #2 to #1.

I don't think it's likely either, but I can see them exploring it. Blake wouldn't be doing his job otherwise. It all depends on the team that gets #1, I suppose. Say Calgary gets booted by Winnipeg and wins the lottery. Their need is much more in the middle of the ice than the wing. I'm curious what they'd want for #1.

I'm sure he'd explore it, but Treliving wouldn't be doing his job unless he asked for a King's ransom in return for that pick. We're talking #2 + Turcotte/Vilardi + Thomas/Kupari.
