Description
NYR AGM's have taught me that it only takes a quantity of players not quality to land a top player like Eichel. With this line of thinking in mind, it shouldn't take much to land Zibanijad then. Right Rangers fans? RIGHT?!?!?!?

Rangers Formula:

A cap dump
A player who is liked by the eye test crowd and hated by the analytics crowd
A "prospect" walking the bust line
A player who has shown promise but still has yet to break out
A 1st round pick not in the current draft
A meaningless middle round pick

So you expcect us to take on Okposo's atrocious deall (he's worth 1,5 mil at this point, dude can't skate), a RD we don't need, a slightly better Andersson, a middle six forward and a bunch of picks for a C on an amazing contract???

The Rangers aren’t trading Zabanejad. It’s like other teams trying to get Eichel. It’s not happening

As stated in the description (reading is hard), this is the formula I see with most Rags AGM's that trade for Eichel. SO it should easily land a lesser center in Zibanejad.

Uhhh read my above comment, because I actually red the description.

Also when you see packages such as Kakko, ADA, Strome, both of our 2020 1st rounder YOU CANNOT claim they're garbage. It's literally ludacris

I understand this. Just making a point at how ludicrous some of these AGM posts trading for Eichel are.

Agreed. Problem is the most current Eichel to NYR is: Buch, Lias, strome, Smith, 21 1st, and 22 3rd. On paper it’s the exact same trade. And there were some NYR fans that were claiming it’s close

No I get it, I’m just saying that’s the most current. I know it wasn’t you or that you agree with it. There are some legit packages for Eichel floating out there.

This aint it chief.
NYR dont take on Okposo deal.
Mittelstadts trade value is trending the wrong way.
Kahun and Montour dont move the needle like Ziba does.
If a 1st is involved, its the 2020 1st, not 2021.

You dont get NYR best/second best player with giving up something big in return.

Not sure what you mean: The differences between these 2 players aren't big at all...

Screen-Shot-2020-08-04-at-11-14-56-AM

I mean if you equate age and cap/term, you wouldn't have to add much at all to Mika to get Eichel. We know that from the on-ice value chart above. That's not really a discussion.

So what you're paying for is cap/term/age. Let's look at that. Value wise (according to EW) Eichel has been worth 25.5 mil over the last 2 seasons, or relative to his cap hit +5.5 mil. Mika has been worth 22.2 mil over the last 2 seasons, or relative to his cap hit: 11.6 mil. Which means if both players maintain this level of play over the next 2 seasons, A team would need to have Eichel for 4 seasons to get the value that you'd get from Mika. So we know value-wise that 2 seasons of Mika = 4 seasons of Eichel. But Eichel is signed for 6 more years, how do we calculate that. Well it helps when you've had a Center who was of comparable value relative to age/cap to where Eichel is now and was traded with 2 years left in his deal: Matt Duchene. So really what you're looking at compensation wise in a trade is Zibanejad + a roughly comparable Duchene-esque haul.

Yeah I don’t want Eichel for any price because of how much it’d take to acquire him. I’m good with keeping our guys and developing. It’s not like we’re contending for the cup yet anyway. I think a veteran presence at center would make more sense to lead the team than someone who has never been in the playoffs before. ( I’m not knocking Eichel, but I think veterans and leaders are even more important to have, meaning someone who has won or someone that has at least been in the fight that is the playoffs)
