Kings decline. I know that sounds crazy, but he's their franchise guy and still has a lot of good hockey left in him. They need wingers, but they can find those through the next two drafts, trades, and FA.

To some extent I agree with you. People on here underestimate the importance of PR and optics. Doughty isn’t going anywhere unless it’s for a superstar.

That being said, the Kings likely won’t be getting a winger of Marner’s caliber anytime soon.

I knew that sounded crazy, I'm glad you get it.

Stutzle has a ceiling close to Marner IMO. They also have Kaliyev who looks like a Hoffman-like consistantly 30 goal scorer. Which means if they draft Stutzle and both of them turn out to be as expected, they only need 2 more top 6 wingers. I think they will need a guy like Tom Wilson and they have the assets to give up for him once Washington's window closes.

It means "huh??"

Just wondering the logic behind not moving a declining 31yo D with $11M contract to a 23 year old star winger likely to be in TOP5 of his position for the next decade...but you do you.

Well if you actually look into Doughty and his production game to game this year, you may just find out he isn't declining at all... He would go on hot and cold streaks all season. 5 points in 5 games then 0 points in the next 5 games. He repeated that cycle all season long. Declining player have nothing, but cold streaks.

Doughty's lack of production is the result of being on a rebuilding team as well as being the only NHL-regular Dman on the Kings.

Doughty also has the lockeroom presence Marner wishes he could have.

Some sort of declining is obvious. It wasn't long ago when he was considered the best D in the world...now it's unlikely he'd even make the Canadian Olympic team for example.

I get that he's a franchise D-man and moving him seems unthinkable...but if Dubas actually smoked some crack and offered Marner for him, the LA fanbase would probably demand Blake's head if he declined that.

Umm...guys these trades aren't real....funny no one spoke a word of Matthews for OEL....this ACGM was just a challenge to see $40 million on the DCore instead of $40 million on the top 4 forwards.

Yeah ngl I was more confused on that other comment than the trades...I understood what you were after from the get go really.

Actually I'm sure most Kings fans would be thankful if Blake didn't trade Doughty. Even for Marner. Marner is a great player, but if not the game changer for the Kings. Doughty is their next captain. Kings will draft Stutzle I think and he alone has a similar ceiling to Marner. If the Kings ever trade Doughty, it shouldn't be for someone paid about as much as him.

We know the purpose of your ACGM, but if you really thought this wouldn't cause debates then maybe you have a lot to learn about ACGM yet...

Well the JT instead of Doughty swap might have happened if Drew had joined JT as 2018 UFA's.

Only difference is Doughty is loyal and grew up a Kings fan. Doughty could have gotten 12M on the open market if he wanted to go that route and Dubas probably would have given it to him.

Devils accept immediately. TBH subban has next to no value compared to nylander. We would probably have to send picks and/or retain salary. Further, we probably arent getting anything in return..let alone nylander

Nevermind, Doughty would have been UFA in 2019 not 2018, Drew signed his extension one summer early.
