Description
I get it, the craziest thing is that the Rangers would realize Marc Staal is a dumpster fire and finally use the LTIR loophole that his eye injury has offered them for years now to get him off the ice...

SJS trade is fair imo. Rangers over pay on Bozak Who would be a cap dump for STL.

We're not moving Georgiev unless it's a overpay. This is the complete opposite.

Lias is never playing for the Rangers again. They need a solid 3C with no term for next year that isnt a long term piece and Bozak fits the bill. If the team isnt great they can flip him with 50% retained for more than a 4th at the TDL anyway and if they are a playoff team he walks end of year and with Hank coming off and the Shatty buyout dropping by 5m, thats almost 20m space for next year just like that.

Lol smile NYR keeping Staal's LTIR eye injury in their pocket years after the fact to get his salary off the books. Would love to see Bettman's facial reaction upon learning of the Rangers of trying to pull that off.

I think you are one of the Rangers fans here with a much more consistently higher valuation of Georgiev than I have. At the end of the day he is another Talbot, Raanta etc where the Rangers develop and flip an unheralded backup into a starter elsewhere and maybe they do well maybe they dont.

Strome and Georgiev fetching a 1 and a 3 would be a home run and would also stop the Rangers from re-signing Strome, which is a 2nd huge win.

They literally should have done it 3 seasons ago. They think he is a decent NHL defensemen and want him around when he is a net negative disaster.

Just keep Strome and don't trade for Bozak. Strome isn't worth much anyways because his QO will be very high because of Panarin. Bozak is pretty similar to Strome except he's much older and declining.

Also that Ottawa trade isn't anything close to fair. Give us a 2nd round pick to take Smith's contract (just straight up).

Moving up 35 spots in the draft isn't gonna cut it for a 4M cap dump.

Marleau was a 6M cap dump and costed a 1st.

Not similar Cap dumps in anyway shape or form. Melnyk is always looking for scam contracts to get to the cap floor without paying the full cap floor dollar amount. Smith is a $4.35m cap hit and a $2.35m salary cost. Melnyk doesnt see $4.35m when acquires Smith, he sees himself saving $2m cash. So no chance on a 2 straight up. Wouldnt be surprised if Smith is dealt for a late pick compensation without a bribe.

No 2nd... no problem... we don't need Smith.

Also DeAngelo gets 6.5M+ for 5 years.

Staal has lost a step (or two) and I sometimes wonder if players try banking the puck off him when Shesterkin seems unbeatable, but he is a veteran on the youngest team in the NHL and is holding the place of younger players not being rushed through the system.

In real life I really hope this happens but I feel this would be undervalued

I think Tony D is actually playing himself into a cheaper contract by being a dumpster fire this series. And yes i get that 3 games will be a wildly small sample size but playoff performance matters in this crap.

Sure but before this playoff series he could have asked for Trouba money.
