if the Blues are trading a goalie it's Allen, they need to shed cap and Allen has some value with his bounce-back performance this year and never actually being bad after being a hot prospect way back when even if he doesn't have a lot of value with that contract and one year of expensive backup that was only kept originally because Binnington hadn't proven he could do it over a full season yet and maybe a better trade return means a hell of a lot less to the Blues than a waiting in the wings backup goalie and the cap room to pursue keeping their cup delivering captain

The narrative you are trying to justify just isn't true. You make trades to try and maximise value where you think there might be an underestimation of a player's worth. Both Perlini and Fabbri's values were at an all time low when the trades were made, so he attempted to get value there, one trade worked, one didn't. He isn't enamoured with the draft year itself.

Do we? Where does another LW fit into the lineup with Olofsson, Skinner, Kahun, and Johansson on the left-side? Only Johansson has ever played the right-side.

We need to stop trying to put players in positions that don't work, no more Johansson at center for example...the Sabres need legit RW's and centers.

(Another example is people putting Kahun at center...he's never played center in the NHL, he's a LW.)
