Pesce would look so good next to Hughes, though. It would be the next legendary pairing.

It does. Pesce is locked up to a bargain extension for the next four seasons. It's one of the single most cap-friendly extensions in the NHL today. Boeser, though very good, will command a big raise in a couple of seasons.

It doesn't make sense to trade Boeser for cap reasons. You can make a separate deal with a bottom-feeder club like Detroit and Ottawa to do that. You trade Boeser in a star-for-star deal to make your team better. Pesce does just that for Vancouver if you simultaneously keep Toffoli.

Vancouver’s bad contracts
Beagle NTC
Sutter NTC
Roussel NTC
Eriksson NTC. It would be a hard sell to convince them to waive to Detroit or Ottawa.

Roussel + small pick for Marc Staal would be a good trade for both Vancouver and New York, I think. Roussel still has value as a player, and the Rangers' bottom-6 is horribad. Rangers can easily swallow Roussel's extra year because the main bill for their young studs doesn't come until 2022-23. Staal's deal expires right before Pettersson's extension kicks in.

Yes it does. Vancouvers problem is too much money spent on forward so they can’t bring back their expiring d-men. This trade is bad because it’s an overpay

Very true. But boeser is the best right wing Vancouver has had since Bertuzzi. He won’t be easily replaced. To give up him AND Hollander who is their second best prospect? That’s a lot. One for one with pesce is probably the best Carolina would get out of Van

Vancouver will need to add to Boeser to acquire Pesce because of the differences in contracts. I agree that Hoglander may be too much of an add, though I do have a tendency to think that prospects are generally going to be overrated by fans until there's full proof that he belongs with the big boys. Perhaps a prospect like Madden or Juolevi is the more realistic outcome if the deal is one-for-one. Foegele scored at a near 0.5 PPG pace along with being one of the best PKers in hockey, so if Vancouver deals Hoglander in the Pesce deal, Foegele would be a very nice piece to complement the middle-6.

The Canucks had 9 forwards score at above 0.5 points per game last year.

Miller, pettersson, boeser, Toffoli, horvat, Pearson, Gaudette, Virtanen, Leivo.

They are NOT looking for a mother middle 6 forward especially if it means giving up their top prospect.

Yes pesce has an amazing contract but boeser is also much younger and still has upside potential.

Anything more than 1 for 1 is an over pay by the Canucks. You’re overthinking it adding all these other pieces.
