It's interesting, but you've got so little cap space. If you sign Hoffman instead of Hall, it probably saves you about $2M. Gives you room to re-sign Blackwell, give Trenin a little more (700k feels just a bit too low), maybe get another cheap vet as insurance, in case some of these rookies aren't ready.

Edmonton wouldn't do that trade. They need Larsson... their defense sucks.

Quick retool and fire again, I think that Nylander deal going to turn into a bargain, his real number probably should be around 9 in his prime.

Yea Hoffman would be good but hall Duchene Nylander could be the 1st line we always wished for. And imagine the JOFA line being the 2nd line and not matched up with the other teams shutdown line all the time. I think our top 2 lines would be deadly

I don’t know if our defence sucks. We may need Larsson for a little while to see how good Bouchard is though.

I get that maybe adding another higher pick to give them a deal they couldnt refuse. Getting larsson could also give Nashville the opportunity to go 7-3-1 next year because larsson is a Ufa during the the expansion draft

I'm not against it at all, but I'd feel more comfortable if the Preds weren't so thin at right D. Even if Fabbro is ready for a top pairing role in 21-22, there isn't much depth behind him.

Their defense is mediocre right now but if you take Larsson out then you're likely running Benning in your top 6...

Nurse - Bear 5/10 average for a top pairing
Klefbom - Benning 3/10 Yikes!!! Benning will have to play ~20 minutes a night

Russell - Bouchard ?/10 Russell playing on a different side and a rookie

Bouchard is a puck moving defenseman. His strength is his ability to move the puck. He's not a shutdown defensive defenceman.

Larsson is a piece that Edmonton needs at least for the next year if not longer unless the piece coming back upgrades their forward defense.

Of course if it was an amazing offer than sure but this offer is frankly underwhelming. Bonino isn't the guy you'd want back in a deal for Larsson.

Edmonton is trying to compete now. They aren't trying to stockpile picks.

Honestly I don't feel like that's the problem. Bonino is simply not the player they would want back in a trade for Larsson.

I'd do it for Sissons with 1M retained. Hes exactly the kind of player the Oilers need on their bottom 6. The Oilers could throw in a conditional 3rd round pick if Larsson doesn't re-sign.

I don't think the Leafs want to do that. The massive age gap is a problem. I think the Leafs/Preds can be trade partners, either Kapanen or Johnsson could help generate offence from your middle-6. I'd love to see a prospect like Carrier or Allard come back in that deal. Salary cap obviously needs to be massaged, maybe some sort of 3-way, but I think each team's strengths and weaknesses fit well for a trade.

I really like the idea of Ellis, but his age/the age gap between the two centerpieces of the deal is concerning for me. It's the same thing with Spurgeon in Minny. I would absolutely love to add him as well, but he's about to be 31 and just starting a long, expensive contract.

Also, depending on what NSH wants to do in terms of team direction, I don't know that this is great for them either - they're pretty thin on RD.

The age gap between Nylander and Ellis is the biggest reason not to do this. Ideally, trading Nylander means getting a similar aged RHD back. Who that is, I don't know but I'd even add to the deal if it meant getting a young, elite RHD.
