OMG That Carolina trade tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy

Bean >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Johnsson

Even ignoring the fact Johnsson is coming off a major knee injury and may not be the same skater, Bean was the best D man in the AHL this year. Carolina *might* consider Kapanen for Bean and a mid-late round pick

Bean was the AHL D-man of the year, but got passed over as an option when we acquired Vatanen and Skjei at the deadline. I know Rod likes to go with vets in the line-up, but I feel there may be a reason why Bean hasn't made the jump to the NHL, similar to Gauthier as a Canes prospect. Not to mention he could be selected in the expansion draft. I wouldn't be surprised if he is moved in a deal similar to this, however I doubt it would be for LH winger coming off of a major injury.

It's a small move but Detroit declines, rather have the pick and go for someone else

I think you guys undervalue how good andres Johnsson is. he has proven he can play a top 6 role on a team that is arguably the deepest team in the league at winger. yes he's coming off injury but he also a 40 pt guy making avg money. I would love to keep him but the flat cap makes it impossable. yes Jake bean is a good prospect but the canes are very deep on defense so he's probably not going to get his chance in carolina and what he does in the ahl means nothing. + who knows if his develops in to a legit nhl top 4 dman. This trade would probably be pretty fair in the end and down the road

I'm not saying moving Bean isn't an option. But for an overpaid 3rd liner coming off an injury?

I am not under-valuing Johnsson. I would love to have him if we weren't already flush with middle-six LH forwards. We have Foegele, Nino, Dzingel, McGinn, Martinook as options. We could really use a RH forward, however. The Hurricanes did take a risk trading for Haula, who was coming off of an injury, before this season, and it didn't really work out as he missed a good chunk of time. I just think if we were to trade a player who has a ton of potential, we would want more of a sure bet that the player can help during our window.

I won't comment on values here, because in my opinion, these are all over the place. On Jake Bean, as good as a year as he had in the AHL, I am skeptical about his NHL transition. I would say as far as his depth and potential, he would be behind both Dermott and Sandin on the left-side, and although I am not terribly familiar with Bean, I am not sure he is capable of playing his off-hand. Considering the situation the Canes are in with Dougie Hamilton this offseason, I would think they would want to hold onto Jake Bean purely for their own depth. Also, why would the Leafs ever trade Justin Holl unless it's overpayment. He's proven himself worthy of handling pretty decent minutes in a shutdown role and has shown good compatibility with Muzzin, Dermott, Rielly even. Again, I think the gain from your proposed deal is just not worth the move. I would think Dermott or Sandin moves this offseason, if the upgrade the Leafs get back for whatever package they are included in, makes it worth it.

Nope, just his ability to shoot, stick handle, throw a hit, take a hit, battle in the corners, battle in front of the net. Just those other parts of the game but his skating should be fine

Yes, worrying about a defender who's having surgery on his weak side shoulder will impact his ability to throw a hit, take a hit, or win a battle? Keep being wrong buddy. Pesce's injury is FAR less significant, Shoulder surgeries are also FAR easier to recover from. He's also a DFD, so his ability to shoot, or stick handle is negligible because he doesn't do it anyway!
