None are more NHL ready than Bean. Bean just won D man of the year in the NHL's feeder league
A. How often do NHL awards go to the player that deserves them... i can't imagine the AHL is better at that (and he wouldn't have been my pick either)
B. He likely won't develop as much as most of those players during the off-season
C. The AHL is not a good developmental league, and is not a good league compared to the KHL (Romanov) SHL (Lundkvist) or even Liiga
Perunovich won best
player (and was my number 2 to Farrance) in a league not far behind the AHL, and Farrance would have gotten my vote probably
Byram broke some records in the WHL, and took massive strides in his defensive game last year, and has a much steeper aging curve than Bean (and Smith should have won CHL d man of the year, but Hoefenmayer had bointzz on a loaded Ottawa team)
Soderstrom was NHL ready this year by all accounts, and has the benefit of a steeper aging curve on his side, and was very good in a much better league
Dobson isn't really a prospect anymore bc he was in the NHL all of last year, but he didn't play a ton, so is debatable
Rafferty took massive strides to fix his defensive game towards the end of the year and likely would have seen a call up had covid not happened
