IMO with that top line, one of the best goalies this season, and a defence with Krug, Carlo, McCoy, Chara, and Grzelcyk is just going to be too hard to beat ... they came so close last year and I believe they're coming back this year and winning the Stanley Cup ... say whatever you want about the "president's Trophy curse" but that's not real.

The Rangers got off to a slow start in that game ... we started playing better toward the end but too late ... hopefully that game was a wake-up call.

Wow. What a game. Kubalík was amazing, and this shows that anything can happen. He has the most points in a playoff debut, tied for second for points in a playoff game by a rookie, and he tied Chicago’s playoff point record for a single game. Edmonton’s power play was lethal, but they weren’t great at even strength.

I think that Matheson’s hit on Boychuck should’ve absolutely been a major penalty, and he should get suspended. I really hope Johnny is okay. I wouldn’t be surprised if Caggiula faced some sort of penalty for his hit on Ennis either.

I only watched parts of the Edmonton-Chicago game ... I don't think I saw the Caggiula hit. I agree with you about the Matheson hit.

After 3 periods, it’s as good of a game for the habs as I could’ve asked. Other than the fact that they’ve taken 7 penalties. (At least the PK has looked good?)

The fact that it’s tied speaks volumes to how outmatched the habs are. Carey has been stellar.

And that’s how you do it. The discipline definitely needs to be worked on, but that was pretty much as good a game as possible for the habs.

To me it looked like he was screened by ZAR, and didn’t know where the puck was until it was off Petry’s stick.

Too bad the stats didn't count as regular season games, we could have seen who the real Rocket Trophy winner would be, Pasta or Ovie.

I still haven't figured out: have the actual "playoffs" started yet? Not that it matters but these games seem to count toward playoff stats while only being qualifier games.

Calgary was much better than Winnipeg in that game ... (I didn't see the whole game because I was watching overtime between Montreal and Pittsburgh but I watched most of it)

So, both 12 seeds won but other than that it was all the higher-seeded teams ... hockey is so unpredictable

The only reason why we have a 24 team playoff instead of 20 (talk was top 3 seeds from each division and than 4 wilcard teams) was because the 12th seeds were two TV money makers (Chi and Mon) so the Edm/Cal and Pit/Tor got screwed for even being in this qualifier round.

Also, don't forget about the Rangers and the Coyotes ... the Coyotes had a small chance at making it before the pause and the Rangers were very much in the race.
