Description
Serg (7.5 x 5) and Cirelli (5.25 x 5) get offer sheeted. Montreal gets their top end left d man. Min gets their number 2 center.

No players with a NTC or NMC are willing to waive - Unfortunately that left Point as the only remaining target.

Point for 8oa, Cozens, a 2nd and a 3rd

Thornton signs a 1 year deal to try for cup.

Cap problem all solved. A lot of picks coming back!

I feel like I am about to get roasted. Last AGM for the night (EVERYONE SIGHS IN RELIEF)

I mean I thought it would be impossible to make Tampa a non-contender in a single offseason but you have clearly shown it is very much possible.

This is still an excellent team....Definitely a contender.

What would you recommend? Their cap situation is messed. I have tried 4-5 different options and everyone says NO that doesn't work. Would love to see someone actually attempt this where it does work... Haha

Definitely :P. I think they would try very very hard to get someone to waive their no trade clause. This AGM was if no one waived. This is still a nice package that they get back for him. But I assume they do everything they can to keep him.

None? Serg and Cirelli (and Cernak) will have offer sheets coming at them left right and center. Unless Tampa can get a bunch of their guys with no trade clauses to waive, they will not be able to match.

Serg and Montreal would be a good fit.
Cirelli and Min would be a good fit.
Heck Cirelli and Montreal would be a good fit also.
Cernak and the Leafs would be a good fit.
That list can go on and on and on.

Point being traded.... HIGHLY unlikely though. That was just for the sake of being different :P

Well Killorn is definitely gone. He likely nets a 2nd~ from a pretender looking to add scoring. From what I've heard from Bolts fans he is open to waiving his NTC. Palat also likely goes.

I agree they are in a mess but it is solvable.

This was me solving it if no one decides to waive. If Killorn and Palat waive, that would be optimal of course.

Serg will turn down anything from montreal less than 9M,
Cernak is a #4/5 this sites obsession with him is hilarious
Cirelli wont sign any OS less than 7

My recommendation would be to make damm sure they win the cup this year.

There's basically no way they're able to keep Cernak, Cirelli and Sergachev, AND still have competitive forward depth. They're either losing at least two of those guys, or they're somehow able to move Palat, Jonnson and Gourde, and end up with guys like Verhaege or Goodrow as full time top six players. It's rough sailing in Tampa.

I will have a stroke if someone gives Serg a 9m offersheet...
Cirelli will not get offered 7m...
I had Cernak as a #3-4-5 in my mind. He could still garner some lower offer sheets. Like 4.2m x 5 (would equate to one 2nd round draft pick).

Tampa's problem. Tampa has 76.16M already spent on a 81.5M cap next year. Plus they have 3 RFA's (Sergachev, Cirelli, and Cernak). Using Evolving Hockey’s contract projection tool those 3 mean $14.5M more in salary--which the organization can't do. The Athletic’s James Mirtle article at the end of April put the players on short-term bridge deals and that still cost $11M. Tampa can't simply shed contracts because numerous players have MNTC's or NTC's (Kucherov, Vasilevskiy, and Point are really the only 3 making significant salary that don't have them--and they're not going anywhere). Tampa is not going to trade a 24 year old 40 goal scorer coming off a down year unless it is an offer they can't refuse.

Even if Tampa gets a bunch of those guys with NTC's to waive them what makes you think any team wants some of those contracts? Remember the CBA extension means those NTC's carry over to the new teams even if they waive them once to go there. All but a few teams are in a cap crunch (Detroit, LA, NJD, Ottawa, and Colorado being the real markets for anyone).

Johnson has 4 x 5M left with a NTC and he's going to be on the wrong side of 30. Gourde is a bottom 6 guy with 5 x 5.16M left with a NTC. Killorn will be 31 with 3 x 4.45M with a NTC. These contracts will cause an asset to be moved with them in order to get rid of...and I highly doubt any of these players waives their NTC to go to a rebuilding franchise from the tax advantaged state of Florida where they play on a Cup contender.

Using Evolving Hockey’s contract projection tool for an $81.5M cap hit--Sergachev's most likely deal is 8x $6.5M cap hit---but at only a 32% chance, other most likely outcomes sit 6 year term (25% chance) or a 2 yr bridge (13% chance). But remember this doesn't take into account playing for a really good team in a state with tax breaks.

Tampa can't do that without moving salary/players out.

So he may well go the way of JT Miller another player they were forced to trade for pennies on the dollar.

I think you can throw "normal operating procedures" out the window this year. And no team will be in Tampa's cap crunch---not even Toronto--next year. Even the treat of one means Tampa must do something to protect against them.

Tampa would match $5.25m aav for Cirelli easily. Just don't sign Shattenkirk and you're good.

TMLBrian laid out a very realistic scenario. Killorn and his M NTC can still be traded. I can't remember one Vaseliskly trade being posted, which is still another big cap option.

None of those trades are remotely happening, Fat chance you're getting great picks for those players. No team is helping Tampa out of their cap situation.
