Literally the ONLY reason people want it is so the announcer can say "Release the Kraken" over the PA when the team takes the ice. It'll be cool for the first couple games and then it'll be old and cringy.
I agree lol, never been a big fan. I'm coming around on Sockeyes and have always liked Emerald(s). Washington state has such a rich history and culture, I think Kraken, of all things, would be a missed opportunity (not that every team needs a regional symbol as their mascot, but I do tend to think it's cooler idk)
Only reason I like Kraken over Sockeyes is because two of your major rivals are going to be San Jose and Vancouver, they both have sea creatures, might as well follow suit! (Yes I know a sockeye is a fish, just no where near as cool as a kraken) Also the branding they could do would be super cool. I like more flashy names, so kraken excites me more than sockeyes. I’m hoping for kraken, but wouldn’t be mad about sockeyes.
If they do Metropolitans I’m going to be disappointed. Yes, I know that that’s what they were called in the 20s, but there is literally a metropolitan division in the EASTERN conference, so it wouldn’t make sense. I would would much rather Sockeyes or Kraken. Sockeyes being the preference. I’ve seen a couple makeshift logos for Sockeyes, and they have been impressive
Personally, I'm against singular form names i.e. the Wild, the Lightning, and the Avalanche.
Don't know why... But, always felt like the name should be pluralized to identify the different members of the team -- as oppose to a singular title.
Maybe the "Seattle Krakens"?
Their chant would be sick tho. "Let's get kraken!"

I’m curious on what they are going to use. I’m guessing it’s going to be one of Sockeyes or Kraken though.

Their fan base would be the Krackheads
I personally wanted them to just promote the Thunderbirds to NHL. Good logo, awesome jerseys, and a cool name.
It's an obvious answer though right? Seattle Supersonics! Just take the color scheme and logo from the NBA team and repurpose. Im joking but a little serious
