Damn went off the board with Quinn but to be fair I’m going out on a limb and saying Ottawa takes Rossi and Quinn 3&5 and really shakes up the draft board taking local talent.

As a Wings fan I'd say that's an easy no to the Edmonton trade. Svechnikov is most likely going to the KHL. No problem to trading Bowey but I would want to see Helm going as well a $6.5M cap hit for a 30yr old player that most likely won't sign in Detroit.

So that leaves Detroit with Byfield or Stutzle. Not very likely but I'd be very happy with that. I think that is the definition of pulling a Darko!

I could see a lot of benefit drafting local and I think in 2-3 years from now wouldn’t think much of it because of their talent level. Odds are this doesn’t happen but I really wouldn’t be surprised.

Holland stated he intends to bring jp back don’t think there is any intention on moving him which is why the ask is a first and prospect

Why would they be jumping for joy trading an A prospect for a B prospect? That makes no sense.

People are way off on this site about JP value. He’s a top prospect loaded with skill. His lack of success is very situational and explainable playing hurt and getting paired with lucic non stop and that fact can’t be overlooked when you look at every single player to spend time with lucic numbers fell off a cliff. Nuge, mcdavid, Leon nobody could produce that their standards around him. Horrendous coaching decisions prevented him from excelling. Also need to consider his agent demanded the trade to negotiate with a new gm and coaching staff obviously not the only reason but that played a part in removing charelli and Todd from organization before forced to piss away another young good forward

sorry uphere but I don't believe Puljujarvi will ever return to Edmonton
he rather moved to Europe than to spend even one more additional day with Oilers

Only JP knows that for sure. In the meantime, giving him time to come around, or to find a deal that actually returns equal value, is not hurting the Oilers.

He was an A prospect....3 years ago. he is now 22 and isn't playing in the NHL because he wasn't able to crack a top 9 role.
the simple fact is that he is probably not coming back to Edmonton. Like Edmonton had an entire new front office and head coach and he still said no. So instead of letting him sit there and play in Europe till he is an UFA, Why not take a 21 year old player now.

if it was me, I would rather have the 6'6" Center that had a decent season in the AHL.

For a guy who claims the Oilers are his 2nd favorite team you sure don't know anything about them.

haha no he was on the team for 2 seasons prior, just wasn't good enough to be in the top 9 consistently. well to put it more accurate, he wasn't good enough to be on the power play consistently. He was generally in the top 9 but not a go to guy(got roughly 10-12 minutes of ice time from the games I watched...I live in Edmonton and am lucky to see most of their games). he played with zero confidence(not his fault) as i blame prior coaching, so they send him down to build his confidence back up(I liked this move). He played a hand full of games in the AHL when decided he didn't want to play for the Oilers organization the next season. so he left the following season. Even though the Oilers brought in new management(Holland) and a new coach(Tippet), but JP refused to come back.

I don't blame him what so ever. I blame past coaching and his agent for telling him not to come back. JP could be a good player for the Oilers as they lack winger depth(or at least they did somewhat till this season). I feel like he had/has a chance to play with Conner on the Right side, but JP seems at this point like he is just done with the Oilers.

so when you say clueless....i can almost guarantee you that I'm not. So you can't sell me that a 22 year old player that's best season was 3 years ago is worth more then a late 2nd/3rd round pick because if that is the case, MTL should be calling every team that is in the top 10 and offering Kotkaniemi(don't do it but an example of the value you are trying to tell me Poolparty has)

I would trade Puljujarvi for Kotkaniemi. And I haven't looked at KK's numbers but I would think he's worth a late 1st right now. Do you think he isn't?

Yes of course as an Oiler fan I would make that trade in a heartbeat... I get a 20 year old Center for a player that is 22 that is showing zero signs of coming back. MTL would laugh and hang up the phone....or atleast they should, even MB is smarter than that.

I'm confused how JPs value has sky rocketed on this site.

Puljujarvi has always been 100% crystal clear that he wants to play in the NHL. Just not for the Edmonton Oilers - and even his stance on the trade request has softened recently. When asked if he would consider returning to the Oilers, he said "never say never."
