Description
2020 draft based on draftside version 28 mock draft rankings...

2nd round pick: Helge Grans RD
3rd round pick: Daniel Torgersson RW
5th round pick: if available Brandon Coe RW if unavailable Theodore Niederbach C
6th round pick: Glebs Prohorenkovs C
7th round pick: Nico Daws G

bruins still have 6.25m cap in this scenario to work others into the lineup bring back chara or krug etc. Allows for mcavoy or carlo to get an early extension as well. can bump either debrusk or grz up but i dont think im off that much with either player.

Would be crazy to see buuuuuttttt what if they offersheet cirelli and trade krejci who has 1 year left on his deal.

Clarke has signed in the ECHL/won't be signed to an ELC.
Think two-year, $800K-$950K deals for Senyshyn, Kuhlman, Zboril and Vladar would work.
Hopefully Grzelcyk takes this contract.
Krug and Chara will probably return; worst-case, Chara will and even if Vaakanainen would make the team, doubt he would play on the top pair.

Otherwise, good work.

I dont want chara or krug back. Chara for age/speed reasons, hes essentially a big bodied captain at this point, hang em up big guy. Krug. i think anything over 5.5 for an offensive dman of his caliber is surpassing overpaid territory. I really think they would be 100% better off financially letting him walk.

Agree to disagree but if you're confident with this defense group, alright.

I dont see why vaak couldnt step into top pairing like mcavoy did with chara. I think mcavoy is good enough at this stage to be able to carry a younger player like vaak. I mean he is kind of carrying chara is he not? I think you are handicapping mcavoy doing that. Give him someone with some sort of speed so he can let his offensive side shine too. 3rd pair could use some work, but i love lauzon. Moore can play the off side, whether he stays healthy is a good question but they have kampfer/clifton in the system and could easily grab another veteran for 3rd pairing RD if needed.

Sure, Chara is " limiting " McAvoy but #73 was better than Vaakanainen when he joined the Bruins in the playoffs. It sounds like Vaakanainen didn't have the best season in the AHL this year so leaving him in the A for at least the start of the season and let him kill it down there would be good imo. All depends on how he plays at the training camp. He could play on 3rd pair but I don't think 1st pair and feels Bruins coaching staff would not play him there either.

How the heck could having cap space next year allow Carlo or mcavoy to get an early extension?

its a flat cap so if they build themselves a 6m cushion now... going into 20-21 offseason it could help keep things open for them down the road. they wont need to boychuk their way into being cap compliant.

No. Mcavoy is under contract for next year and the year after. Carlo is under contract for next year. 0 dollars in cap space and 20 million in cap space next year makes zero difference in regards to extending those two.

Swithc Studnkica and Kase
Switch Moore for Clifton,
And bring back Chara

Senyshyn probably gets a two-way deal (so 925k)
IF you wanna not sign Krug, thats your call, and if you wanna call up zboril and senyshyn that up to you man.

overall: pretty good job !! Just fix those things

lets pretend they use that 6.25m on krug for the next 4 years... guess what? thats 6.25m less space to give to carlo next year, to give to mcavoy the year after. OR they keep the space and carry it forward to be able to re sign our young star players. you see how having 6m extra space next year helps give carlo and mcavoy an early extension?

im not bringing back chara. moore has more nhl experience i cant see him being a 2.7m healthy scratch AGAIN. if they dont bring krug and chara back. I truly have no idea where to put studnicka. 3c? 3rw? 2rw? who knows man. i think an extra 75k to seny isnt a big deal to be honest.

Predict Chara takes his last one year deal for 2020-2021. That leaves the Bs with plenty of space to bring in a vet dman at the deadline if Vaakanainen and/or Zboril haven’t handled the NHL icetime well. Everything looks good except for Z coming back for one more and I would switch Lauzon in for Moore.

Nope.

Wasting cap space for a cup contender should get you fired. Sign krug and give him an NTC rather than an NMC for the first two years if you want. He’ll be in Seattle. Having 6 million in cap space next year does precisely, and i do mean precisely, nothing for any mcavoy or Carlo extension.

The difference is him making 1 mil in both the NHL and AHL (if he is sent down) vs 925 k in the NHL and like 100 k in the AHL if they send him down
Basic research on NHL salarys dude

Chara is already in contract talks. Agian if you dont want to resign Krug thats up to you, but Chara is different because its all but signed that hes coming back .

Literally this year Clifton is playing over Moore, so that will remain lol

Like those three are the things that just need to be fixed up,
The Krug deal and Studnicka playing top 6 minutes can be left to your discussion lol

clifton played 7 more games than moore this year. Moore also started the year on IR if i do recall correctly because of the separated shoulder. regardless. I as a fan love chara, but i dont want him back. League is getting younger and faster. I just dont want to see it anymore. Until it happens im going full youth movement on defense on that left side.

I want absolutely nothing to do with krug. Its not wasting cap space if everyone performs up to what im expecting them to do. Theres no reason to spend money if they dont need to. Next year they dont need to.

so you think d pairings would be:

Chara - mcavoy
grz - carlo
vaak/zboril - lauzon

thats a possibility. As i keep saying i hope they dont bring chara back due to age and speed.

Hey man listen idk if you dont wanna heed my advise lol
Im just telling you unless chara announces his retirement (which is unlikely considering he has said he wants to keep playing, hes coming back.

Again, good ACGM overall so whatever lol

thats fine i just hope it isnt here lol. Im not saying your advice isnt good, or not taking it or whatever i just dont want 43 year old chara on the ice for 20+ a night which will 100% happen.

Again just note that a lot of his minutes still come during the PK where he is still dominant (its easy when you can touch the other blue line from your own i guess lol)

Okay. I guess i just didn’t see how on earth it had anything to do with Carlo and mcavoy extensions, especially seeing as how mcavoy isn’t even eligible to sign.

Use the money. Keeping that much cap space should get Sweeney fired.
