and stl just trades him to ottawa, they need a starting goalie for next season anyway. or stl just moves bozak instead. both are easily done so what is montreals leverage.

Montreal doesn't need leverage in buying someone else's cap problem. Check the main site, more than enough teams are in cap hell. Montreal doesn't need the Blues.

Get real, dude. Lindgren is pure trash. He's utterly useless. And Allen, who has been among the top performing goalies since Jan. 2019, has solid value. This is not controversial or a secret. Most importantly, you aren't the only team in the league. We can happily take our business elsewhere. You won't be putting Army over a barrel.

I never claimed Lindgren was good, or Allen is bad. The whole idea is the Blues are spending $4,350,000 on a back-up goalie. Blues are at risk of losing players (most importantly their captain) and need to ditch cap. You are right, they can sell elsewhere, someone else will hold them over a barrel. Its gonna happen.

I don't see why Montreal would pay 4 mill for a backup when they have Price and his contract to worry about.

They have the space and need a solid back-up for the first time since, Halak? Primeau shouldn't be riding the bench.

Duh... Because you don't use cheap gas in a ferrari.
But in all seriousness, I don't think other fanbases realize how starved MTL has been for backup help.
This seems preferable then messing with Primeau's development . They have cap space for 1 year, might as well throw it all for a backup until Primeau plays a full AHL season

You act like us shedding cap is the only benefit gained in a deal here. Honestly, it's amazing how fans can't comprehend their team needing to pay for better players these days. After all, so many deals have already set the precedence.

Curious, which 2 SHOULD Montreal keep?

I think Danault (or Tatar if we draft Lundell or Perfetti) and Domi. Gallagher I think plays a game where he won't be able to stay healthy soon, and its time to set aside the fans love for him and sell high.

Keep Danault and Gallagher. Tatar arguably should have been sold off for a kings ransom last trade deadline, if you included 50% retention I think he could ave gotten a good prospect and a 1st at the minimum, now he gets you that 1st but not the same prospect. Domi can be a key piece in a bigger trade if Bergevin wants to make a splash but i also think he can be kept for a fair price on a longer term deal.

they still keep their 2021 1st. Domi and Boeser are almost a wash, Boeser is a bit better tho. You re-sign Markstrom and Toffoli. Then go after some sort of D-man in free agency or a trade

They still keep their 2021 pick if they don't do this deal. Domi is older and RFA next year. After signing Markstrom and Taffoli not much dollars for dmen. But my larger point is that Vancouver's core is young. They have time to wait out Eriksson's contract. It doesn't make sense to get older and shorten the window

Ok, looking forward to seeing how the Blues get to keep their captain. I bet it will be the HOCKEY TRADE of the decade.

Yeah, me too. But it surely won't be one trade, and this one trade you've proposed wouldn't do the trick alone, either.

Nope, but its $3,600,000 in savings and came by pretty cheaply. But yeah, I am sure Sens or Wings are just itching at the idea of sending a high pick. We should hear from them now.

Oh, you mean those teams that need a starter? Yeah, I suppose they would pay more than a team looking for a back-up. Great point.

@B28 that’s your trade 🤜🏼🤛🏼

@reelkena wanna join conversation !!! You have a good management head

If Max Domi becomes a Canuck, I find a new team to root for. Even if it would make sense. Domi is an idiot. A bad teammate and the praise he's been getting (from Price I think) is because he needs ego coddling and everyone knows it. I would never do it.

Having said that. I'm also not paying Brock and Olli and something else to dump Loui when you could pay a lot less and dump Roussel and Sutter who combined cost more cap space. It's a no from Van. I just did a bunch of Jake Allen talk and I also agree he's worth more. I also cant imagine Mtl paying 15 million for goalies. Dumping Byron might be fine and I don't have intel on the contracts and if they are good or not. Sorry bro, I'm not with you this time.

The Blues don't really need Lindgren, they have Husso. Allen is worth a pick himself (a 4th, maybe a 3rd) throwing him away + a pick to get a year of Lindgren and no pick doesn't make much sense,

Habs do the STL and PHI deal but can’t do the Vancouver. Value is fine but we cannot take a 2 year cap dump like eriksson. It has to be one year left only since we have big signings next year and will need the space.

There's a reason why Armstrong is one of the best GMs in the league. Look at how he dealt with oshie and sobotka. He isn't going to blow up the entire team for one player. He's going to make moves to keep Petro but at the end of the day if he walks, he walks. There are a lot of teams that need a starter and one that proves his worth like Allen. Why would they trade allen to a team that needs him and pay to do so in the process.

Domi is 2 years older than Boeser, 10 years younger than Eriksson (and actually a good player). Not sure age should be much of an issue here. Juolevi, is he even considered a good prospect anymore?

Yes 2 years older is still older and closer to UFA. Domi is also an RFA next year. Juolevi still a prospect.
