Your trade for Vancouver is reasonable from a value perspective. Don't think it makes sense for Vancouver though.

Uhh that's a firm no from the Blues. We're the ones who get the 3rd rounder, not you, and you keep Lindgren. Allen for a 3rd, that's the deal. We're not paying you to take your trash goalie and replace him with one worlds better.

Why? What would Benning do with the additional cap space? Sign Taffoli? Sign Tanev?

It's a playoff bubble team that needs young dmen. This move makes them older and shortens the window

IMO the Canucks deal works for both sides that being said we would need to trade Mete afterwards as Romanov needs ice time. Getting Allen help the backup position but that's a high price when Crawford and others likely cost half as much. The real issue is the Erikson contract next off season when we need to resign a lot of our top players

I don’t see why van does that. I get clearing a bunch of money off the books but I don’t think they would be looking to turn around and commit a huge chunk of it to domi. Point of clearing the space is to resign the guys they have. After signing domi I don’t think they really come out much ahead in that aspect to justify giving up that much

if vancouver was allegedly looking to move boeser because of the future cap situation i don't see how they could afford domi.

montreal adds in the stl trade. maybe allen +3rd for mete + lindgren

byron's not worth a 2nd. change it to a 3rd at least.

Montreal would be taking on your $4,350,000 back-up goalie, and giving you a $750,000 back-up. But you are right, Montreal can take that $3,600,000 cap savings elsewhere to a team that wants to keep their captain...

How about sign Petterso and Hughes. Do you not realize how easy they will be plucked from Vancouver if you dont clear out cap space? This clears over 6 million out in a single shot.

Domi is 2 years older than Boeser, 10 years younger than Eriksson (and actually a good player). Not sure age should be much of an issue here. Juolevi, is he even considered a good prospect anymore?

Leaf's had to give away their 1st for 1 year of Marleau, and we're complaining about a 3rd for $3,600,000 in cap savings?

It's amazing how fans can't comprehend their team needing to pay for cap space these days. So many deals have already set the precedence.

they still keep their 2021 1st. Domi and Boeser are almost a wash, Boeser is a bit better tho. You re-sign Markstrom and Toffoli. Then go after some sort of D-man in free agency or a trade

Its even the same with the Habs though, if we took on these cap dumps we would be spread thin to resign everyone the next year. You would have to buyout Alzner and hope that Danault and Gally take discounts

Agreed.

Montreal can't keep more than 2 of Domi, Tatar, Danault, Gallagher in my opinion.

allen isn't really that much of a cap dump when you consider he is a massive improvement on what the habs already have. he might be overpaid by $1.5m or so. there are other teams like ottawa and detroit that could easily use his service. montreal doesn't have that much leverage. if you want a great deal you'd have to take someone like lucic or turris.

Curious, which 2 SHOULD Montreal keep?

I think Danault (or Tatar if we draft Lundell or Perfetti) and Domi. Gallagher I think plays a game where he won't be able to stay healthy soon, and its time to set aside the fans love for him and sell high.

So Blues have the leverage when getting rid of $4.350,000 in back-up goalie cap hit because its an upgrade on Montreal? Right... Instead of Montreal offering more, they will just sign a FA for 1/2 the cost... Nice leverage theory you got there.

and stl just trades him to ottawa, they need a starting goalie for next season anyway. or stl just moves bozak instead. both are easily done so what is montreals leverage.

Get real, dude. Lindgren is pure trash. He's utterly useless. And Allen, who has been among the top performing goalies since Jan. 2019, has solid value. This is not controversial or a secret. Most importantly, you aren't the only team in the league. We can happily take our business elsewhere. You won't be putting Army over a barrel.

I don't see why Montreal would pay 4 mill for a backup when they have Price and his contract to worry about.
