Explications
Having some fun here.

Arizona wins the first-place lottery.

Most people are predicting that some GM will give Hall $9 million. I'm not so pessimistic.

Jason Botterill is under pressure to produce some results NOW. I think he'll try some short-term solutions while waiting for Cozens and Mittelstadt to develop without giving up the farm.

Los Angeles is looking for a short-term veteran to partner Drew Doughty for one or two years.

It may be a little early to throw Hayton into the fray, but on the fourth line he might get some sheltered minutes.

It should be noted that after Hayton, LaFreniere and Victor Soderstrom, the prospect cupboard is bare. These guys need to learn how to draft in a hurry.

That would work for BUF but I doubt Arizona would retain both salaries. Buffalo needs to fire Jason Botterill it’s getting ridiculous!!

Arizona gets Lafreniere and Hall, they would retain my brother to paint their dressing room.

I don't think the Kings should pursue Goligoski. He's a fine offensive defenseman, but he sort of exacerbates the issue with Doughty. Doughty needs more of a stay at home guy to partner with that will allow him to go do his thing without having to be the responsibile one. He's better when he's able to take risks, and he hasn't been able to do that for several years due to having to shelter his partner.

Kings would look at Hjalmarsson, but I think they'd look elsewhere before trading for Goligoski. If several of the more preferred options fall through, they might circle back around to him. He's a better option than Hutton anyway.

My thinking is that Drew tends to overextend himself trying to do too much offensively. This might work by taking the load off him to produce in the O-zone. Mull this one over and keep it in the back of your mind.

I actually think it's the opposite and is the reason why Doughty's offensive numbers have been down over the past couple seasons. He'd like to jump up and do more (especially in this new offensive system that allows defensemen to activate), but knows he needs to be the responsible one back if it doesn't work out (we all know Forbort wasn't going to break up any odd-man rushes). If he still had Mitchell or Scuderi on his pairing, he wouldn't be so tentative. I'm looking forward to Bjornfot allowing him to be more creative again, but I think that's still at least another season away.

As I said, I think Goligoski is a better option than Ryan or Hutton, but I think there are better options out there that are just as easily attainable.
