Quoting: Claesson4Norris
He's a 3rd/4th liner who has hit 30 points one time in his career, and that was four years ago. I don't think he's even worth a 3rd.
Well, it's kind of a minor thing to quibble over but you're likely mistaken. He's an NHL player, and he hasn't been what we'd hoped for, but the sun hasn't set on him yet.
When Brett Connolly was the same age he had a career high of 15 points and was barely able to hold an NHL roster spot but he was traded for two 2nd round picks to the Bruins. Pretty similar situations actually. I mean heck, I sat and watched Brandon Bollig get traded for a 3rd round pick one time.
If a GM out there thinks that Bennett can do more with a change of scenery, which is entirely possible, they will likely fork over a couple 2nd/3rd round picks, maybe with conditions on them of some sort. The guy is a major disappointment, but he's still a gritty 3rd liner with potential upside remaining in the right situation. At worst the gritty 3rd liner is what they'd be getting, and whether you believe it or not, that's actually worth something. Plus, they might even get more.
My guess is it would be a rebuilding team with lots of picks and potential ice time to spare to give him a chance to stretch out a bit.
