there is enormous potential to this trade.

Sure the leafs lose a 31 goal scorer in Nylander and their best prospect but the benefits outweigh the risks.

For starters that 2020 1st could become 1st OA so Leafs have a better chance at grabbing Laf. Even if it aint Dubas can use the first players like Astarov, Schneider, Perfetti, maybe even Drysdale if were lucky. Could even chose to trade down and grab more picks for a deeper draft outlook.
Second, Domi will become a fan fav like his father was, sure he wont have the offense of Nylander, but he will at least get 15-20 goals with Matthews or Tavares.
Finally, getting Petry with that retention is perfect. Dubas could even work on an early extension

Overall if this was offered I cant see Dubas rejecting.

If the Habs are giving up Domi + Petry + Olofsson it's the Leafs giving up the 1st not the Habs! Domi + Olofsson + 2nd = Nylander
Petry = Robertson + 1st + 3rd or 4th.

Way i see it is MTL is giving up a lot

I dont mind giving up the pieces but the pieces coming back better be worth it .

Robertson is a nice prospect but not to the point we'd take an Overpayed Nylander and give up our 2020 1st and the chance at Lafreniere .
Make in Marner and MTL will likely consider passing on the Highest skilled French player since Huberdeau
I think the cap relief would be worth it to TML to as they'll likely save 3.5-4.5m cap and not lose a ton of skill from offensively going from Domi to Marner

Nylander can be had for Petry and that 1st alone at that retention
i just dont see why we'd offer more for Nylander who will be our 2nd line RW playing with Suzuki(he's not skilled enough to push Gallagher out of top line.)
