Turris at 2C is almost as bad an idea as Wennberg
And that trade with Nashville is horrific
Watson is a 4th liner, so no trade value
And they should be PAYING US ASSETS to take Turris,
who is 100% a Cap Dump bc of his contract & poor performance the past few years

Betting on him to return to his old form is one thing
(Still a bad idea imo)
But to actually give up 3 decent assets for him is nuts

If they offered us Turris & Watson for NOTHING....
I’d still turn it down

*Bonino would be a MUCH better option
He’s not 2C quality, but he’s at least a guy who’s been playing really well for them

I know u do a lot of these (obviously)
But i just don’t see your thinking at all on this one

Totally agree on Bonino, gives the Sabres a year to see how Cozens performs at the NHL level. I proposed McCabe for Bonino in another post as both have 1 year to being an UFA. Nash has some 30+ D so it works for both teams.

Idk that I’d trade McCabe though?
With Pilut looking like he’s KHL bound, that leaves us with only Dahlin on the left side
Assuming we are gonna trade either Risto or Montour for a top6 winger, that leaves us with 2 open holes to fill
Normally, I’d say we could look to free agency
But we’re such a sh!tshow right now, i don’t think we can count on signing ANY UFA at all at a reasonable price
They’re almost all overpaid to begin with (the good ones),
and we’d like have to go even extra to convince guys to come here at this point

Adams is walking into a really tough spot with the way things are now, and has no experience

So I’d hope to be keeping things as simple as possible for him right now

Sorry to sound like a Debbie downer, I’m usually an optimistic kinda guy, but i think it’s gonna be a tough offseason
We’ll see though, fingers crossed

With this flat cap it will probably be possible to squeeze a LHD from a cap strapped team...I just don't see the Sabres going for a big name 2C. They can't afford to trade Cozens as some seem to suggest on here or the 8OA as they have no quality forward prospects in the pipeline. Looking at the UFA's there's not much out there other than Dadonov and would he even consider coming here and would the Pegulas even entertain paying him to do so. It's going to take some shrewd trades and are Adams/Krueger capable of pulling them off.

I could be wrong but I will keep saying I think Krueger has clout now and I don't see Risto being traded. Montour, yes but will he bring a top 6 forward? Would Pilut come running back if a trade involving McCabe were to happen and he is assured a spot on the Sabres? Botterill shafted him last year so can't blame him for bolting. If what I read is true about the Sabres not interested in re-signing any of their UFA's other than Larsson and he is seeking a change there is going to be plenty of new faces on this team. The system isn't stocked so where do they come from?

I have to agree with you it's going to be a tough offseason unless the Adams/Krueger team pulls off a couple of shrewd trades.

That doesnt work for Nashville at all. I dont see a reason why they give up Bonino, especially when theyre still a contender, for someone that is going to be stuck behind 2 of the best dmen in the game, not to mention their prospect pool.

Agreed. McCabe for Bonino is a non-starter for the Preds.

Mutual help for each team. Detroit gets a young AHL allstar goalie with a little NHL experience and Sabres get a great PK forward

Yes, this idea with Turris doesn't look good. With the same success, we can overpay Haula in UFA, only there will still be a better contract.

Depends which Haula shows up https://public.tableau.com/shared/7X6GH4DMP?:display_count=y&:origin=viz_share_link
Could be worse

It could be, but Turris's contract is as bad as Okposo and even worse because of the extra year. Haula contract would probably be for 2-3 years with 3.5-4m per year.

More assets. I like JJ Peterka a lot too, if nobody wants to go with Sanderson, Holtz may be fine but has holes in his game, im not a fan of Lundell, and I like Quinn but he has jumped up the charts and that always has me sketched. Id rather move back, get someone i like and get 2 additional assets. You increase the % chance of netting an NHL player anyway

I wouldn’t consider that “for free” though

While i don’t like Tage, he’s got potential
And Miller certainly has SOME value

And if i was even considering bringing in Turris,
they’d have to PAY us to take him
That Cap hit is horrible for him

Even if it was Turris & Watson for NOTHING...
i still think they should ADD

We would need to get TWO defensemen for the left side if we trade McCabe though
And idk if we can even count on getting 1 guy who’s better than him?
Just seems too risky to me
