Flat Cap May Well Help Tampa Work Out Bridge Deals

Description
As seen by this, I don't see the offer sheet market being very active this offseason. With the flat cap scrimping everybody, I see Tampa being able to get 2 year bridges for Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak. To pay for these, Killorn is swapped for Jarnkrok and Paquette is dumped with a very small sweetener.

Even if those deals were for only one year, all of Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak are way too low. If TBL made those offers the players would definitely have their agents look for offer sheet suitors.

I don't see the offer sheet market being very active this offseason. With the flat cap scrimping everybody for at least this season and maybe next, I see clubs being very, very conservative with their cap space this season, and for that reason, I think that Tampa will be able to lock in inexpensive 2 year bridges for Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak. I think that people underrate the impact of what was originally thought to be a steadily rising, non-quarantine cap in last year's Aho offer sheet. RFAs had way more leverage last season because of booming revenues.

I agree we won’t see a lot, if any, offer sheets this year. But there’s zero chance any of those three players (especially Cirelli or Sergachev) take that low an AAV. They’d demand a trade if no team extends an OS.

Flat cap could make OS’s even more possible. Rivals have an opportunity like no other time. If not then an OS is even more unlikely in any year.

If i were the Sens or Habs or Wings I’d try for 1 or 2.

It’s not palsy walsy it’s called the pros & all about winning. Especially with those offers.

I think it's the opposite. Rising revenues make it possible for offer sheets to be offered in the first place. It all starts at the top, in the end. Most owners, particularly ones of losing clubs, are likely going to be conservative with their funds and ask their GMs to hunker down a little bit as long as the quarantine is a reality.

No, it's not. I'm a cynical Canes fan that believes that flat caps have a history of benefiting incumbent clubs and hurting losing clubs. It's when the cap expands that the big guns tend to get reamed, because it's during those times that the previously losing clubs are comfortable enough financially to make big moves.

As I point out above, I'm a cynical b*****d. I hope that Cirelli and Sergachev get paid, but historically-speaking, when the small-market owners and losing-club owners are scrimped, the incumbent clubs have a natural advantage in the RFA market.

The concept I agree with, but the cap hits of those players is silly.
They may take bridge deals, they may take discounts, but what you proposed represents discounts of like 70% what they could get elsewhere.

Could see Sergachev and Cirelli signing two year bridge deals with an AAV that starts with a 4 but in the 2's seems very unrealistic, Cernak I'm really not sure what he's looking at in terms of a deal, what you're giving Sergachev and Cirelli looks like what Cernak would get in a two year bridge deal I'm guessing.
