Burakovsky will get closer to $5m on a 4 year deal.

Jost won't get 4 years. More like 2-3 years at $2m aav.

Byfuglien is looking quite round these days... so I doubt he's going to suit up in the NHL anytime soon, especially for a contract like that.

A third line utility players on a huge contract i doubt many team will be interested in acquiring him. With the cap that is likely to be stuck at 81,5 millions for the couple next season team will be very carefull sbout their spending

hopefully i fixed the contracts 😁

and my thought on byfuglien was give him a chance... he was a great d man in the past so if you can get him... why not give it a shot. if not, there’s other options, such as zadorov

moving Donskoi would be a mistake, hes a valuable piece to the Avs top 9.
Personally would rather have him over spending 6m on Dadonov. Erik Haula fits more than Dadonov IMO

Donskoi is more than just a 3rd line "utility" player. He was pacing for over 50 points before he got injured this season, and looked very good with Kadri and Burakovsky on the 2nd line.

I don't envisage that Sakic will consider trading him so soon after signing him in UFA, it's just not Sakic's way of doing things. He tends to be meticulous and plan long-term, and also tends to honour contracts as much as possible. Moving a player 1 year into a 4 year contract doesn't seem like the type of move Sakic would make. That said, I could see it being a legitimate option in 2021 where Seattle ED is in play and after which we'll have had 2 seasons to assess his performance.

That said, I'm also curious what sort of value people think Donskoi has, so I'm glad @Kukas26 asked the question. I think he's probably right that it's a 2nd + 3rd sort of deal, maybe with a prospect thrown in depending on how high the pick is.

you have a point... but dadonov is a better second line guy. and a second line winger is what the avs “need”

Yeah looks better now. Nichuskin probably gets around $2.5m x 2-3 years though. $1.5m would be if it's another 1 year "prove it" deal but even then it's a bit low given how he's performed this year.

A 2nd line winger is the target to add, but Dadonov is goign to be 32 year near and on a 4 year contract, that seems like a problem contract very soon.

They would be adding guys that fits more their age group and mold similar to how they targeted Burakovsky, Nichushkin, Donskoi, and even Namestinkov. Their pro scouting and analytics department has done a good job finding these guys who in elevated roles especially under Bednar would succeed.

I don't know if Dadonov is the sort of forward we need on the 2nd line though. He's more of a goalscorer than a playmaker, and we already have two shooters in Kadri and Burakovsky on the 2nd line. At 31 years old there's also a risk that he turns into the next Zuccarello at $6m x 4 years and handcuffs us going forward.

True. It could a one year deal just to see how it goes with the team. but I don’t see dadonov taking a one year deal. so now that i actually think about it... going after him wouldn’t be a great idea.

Someone like Toffoli would be a good target for us in UFA instead of Dadonov. He's a good two-way forward who brings playoff experience, and at 28 is still young enough to have some of his best years ahead of him. Something like 5-6 x 5.5 or something in that range should be doable for him, maybe less depending on what offers he's getting in UFA.

He was actually only good the time he spend on the first line with Mackinon. After Rantanen and Landeskog where back he actually have been returning to is former third line production. So yes he is a third line utility players. After he was put back on the second and third line he had 6 point in 35 games and had mostly been scoring is point with mackinon as a center. So dont gave me that bullshat. He have always been a third line utility players and he will continue to be that guys. Dale weise once was on pace for 40 goal after 20 games in 2015-16 season that doesn’t mean that he was donskoi had a very hot 15 games stretch but was himself for the reat of the season.

that is true. but i’m assuming vancouver resigns him because he has played very well on that 1st line.

I admit that it might have seemed that I was pumping his tyres a bit when I said that he was pacing 50 points, but that's a fact that he was doing that. You're also underestimating him if you think 6 points in 35 games is his normal pace. He's always been quite streaky but overall he's about a 0.5ppg player who plays an excellent two-way game.

In any case, note that in my earlier post relating to his value I said that a 2nd or 3rd (+ maybe a prospect) would be reasonably fair, which is reflective of the fact that he's a streaky 0.5ppg player, who I agree is ever so slightly overpaid. If he was a consistent 50 point forward I wouldn't think his value was that low, would I?

He have been a 0,44 ppg career average that around 37-38 point in a 82 game season. With the salary that he carried on is value isn’t that high at all.
What value Paul Byron is having ? You got your answers there. Byron have had very similar stats in the past 5 season and have a a cheaper contract. A typical third line utility players. Morgan Geekie was pacing for 160 point this years but the fact that he was doiing it. Dont start with that bullcrap. Colorado fab are always picking on Drouin but in your logic he was on pace for 70 point this year before getting injured. Does that make him suddenly a 70 point players? I dont think so and Donskoi is not a 50 point players even if he look like it the 15 games Mackinnon carried him.

Dude relax. I said that he was PACING for 50 points, NOT that he's a 50 point player. No need to bring Drouin or Byron into this conversation.

Byron is a very good comparable to Donskoi both have been putting very similar number. So yes bringing him into conversation make sense. What values would you think Byron would have ? Both have 3 years left on their deal, both are about the same point production. Both are utility winger that can fill in almost every role in a lineup.

As I said Donskoi is probably worth a 2nd or 3rd. I don't really feel like getting dragged into a debate about valuation of Montreal players, but I guess Byron is about the same value, maybe slightly less as he's 3 years older and likelier to age worse over the course of the contract.

A second or a third seem very high for those type of players on a long term deal. And since the cap won’t probably goes up for another 3 or 4 season team won’t be spending that much money to acquire a third line players. He would probably have more value with one years remaining on is deal. That a huge risk to take if a team acquire him for 3 years and he start declining that 4 millions you lost under the already strained cap situation.

That's fine. Avs aren't really going to be looking to trade him anyways. Maybe he'll be the Seattle selection though. Not exactly a problem for now anyways as we have plenty of capspace.

He will probably exactly the kind of players Seattle will want. If they goes on the same path Vegas did they will probably goes for Donskoi or one of Grubauer or Francouz. They will be avoiding long term deal
