Then you better be ready to give up a couple of really really good assets like at least a 1st for Erikson and Roussel and Beagle likely cost a 2nd + a top prospect for 3 years of cap hit

How is this weaponizing cap space? You didnt use your cap space as a weapon at all and actually moved out your horrible contract in Alzner to a team that cant afford to take it.

1. We take 7 Mil in cap for Vertanen and Demko so the Canucks can sign their UFA's and RFA's.

2. Read the Alzner trade again! It is a CBO or mutual termination not a trade just had to show it as a trade to get the cap hit off our books

Even further fetched than the Oilers taking him.

How is that a troll? We already know there arnt any CBOs and the idea of Alzner mutually terminating his contract is fantasy land. Guy can't even get a shot on a team that needs left defensemen. Why would he terminate his contract if hes not going to have a better chance anywhere else?

Oilers decline, our most played, most durable D for one year of tartar, no thanks. Holland hangs up the phone.
Does Alzner even play in the NHL anymore, why would he rip up a contract that pays him 4 million a year? Crazy

That was my thread for oilers trade. I think it’s very generous offer from oilers perspective. It went with bear for petry plus a second too. I think petry is the perfect vet to groom jones and that creates a vet that can help shelter bouch 5-5 with Russell while focusing more on pp. Gain his confidence with his strength before more defensive responsibility. To me it can make sense if both trades are made but need to really value the cap space will open up for oilers.

Like I said it was on an Oilers thread personally I thought it should be more as well. The other thread also had Petry as a rental and a 2nd for Bear which was to rediculous to post lol. Just thought I would take a stab at Nurse lol

Ok when you look at it that way maybe it wasn't as rediculous as I initially thought

In that thread I had 34 million ish off the books with 20 million can lock up yam nuge larsson long term and russell short term leaving 14 million can resign Tatar. Think about 15 million coming off the next year to resign bouch and jones and goaltending.

Both your trades are so terrible, Russel can walk after next year. Bear and Bouchard are not going to cost much in the immediate future and Petry who will be 24 and Tartar who will be 32 can walk and you have nothing left. Play the long game and keep the talent we got. These kind of trades got us into this mess. always keep your young good players.

Both are about developing young players jones and bouch. Petry could shelter bouch off the start also be excellent mentor for Jones groom him into top four. Let petry walk bouch should be ready for top four minutes. This opens a ton of cap space at what should be an excellent time. If teams are in tough shape now I’m sure a year from now won’t be any different.

What is wrong with developing young players with Larsson, Klefbomb, Nurse, Russel and Benning. So you are throwing Bear away for nothing if Petry walks, no GM would ever do that, both Petry and Tartar are deadline acquisitions and thats it. Bouchard needs to start in Bakersfield next year for half the year and Jones and Bear can get more icetime, that is the way it should be.
Also losing Nurse is a huge hole to fill with team toughness (playoffs) for the guy that made this thread.

Why does bouch need to start in ahl? I think he’s done everything asked of and earned a spot. Long term on RD it’s between larsson bear and bouch for the top four. I choose larsson and bouch avoid investing term in bear even tho I’m a huge fan. Rental vet that can groom jones also shelter bouch allowing him to get comfortable quicker. This provides oilers 7-3-1 expansion protection which protects all klef larsson jones and bouch doesn’t need Protecting

Your not getting Nurse but if you were to get him it would cost you and you would have to take back contracts. Something like Nurse, Chiasson and Neal for Domi, Gallagher and Mete.
Like I said, it won’t happen.

Why would you protect Larsson, he is a UFA and a hand shake deal and he will not need protecting. Bouchard needs to start in the AHL because he needs more time on decision making in the D zone. FACT...What is Bear going to cost long term, less than Petry, thats for sure. 2nd pair D will not cost as much, Jones does fine with Benning and Benning has been fantastic on 3rd pair. We have a great mix of experience and youth right now and you want to get rid of it. Also Petry will never come back to Oilers as he got screwed by them. Are you sure you are not Peter Chiarelli?

1. Mete is a solid second pairing D man right now that can play both left or right D.

2. Mete is still only 22 and has top pairing talent and has time to grow into that role.

3. For a team that doesn't have a very solid left side I would think that Mete is an upgrade worthy of a mid to late 2nd and mid to late 3rd

We have Vlasic, Simek and Ferraro. All of which provide more to us than Mete would. The only one who may be worse is Simek and he provides stabilizing D and physicality That our d needs that Mete will not.
