Logan is in his prime but I’ll agree there will be more years outside his prime than in his time on this contract

but he is French Canadian tho so who knows what might happened lol

Anyway, there's a chance Habs are handing out a potential lottery pick in 2021 to the Sharks.....so no way they are giving up that pick and the 9th overall pick in a deep draft which could still be in Montreal. On the other hand, even though the Sharks are coming off a down season, I think the Sharks will keep Couture and see if they can improve next season. If they still are missing the playoffs, I could see them do something similar to the Habs/Kings by having a "retool" instead of a rebuild due to having multiple LT contracts.

My thought is Logan Couture is worth a 1at and a second. I figured the other first was the cost of Alzner.

My strategy was to figure Habs a 1st line center and the addition of Krug this team could really push for a very good year.

With the number of contracts up at the end of 20-21, there will be players not coming back

that's your issue. you're only thinking about this from Montreal's perspective. San Jose just named Couture the captain this year. He's not going anywhere soon, especially if the only actual current player coming back is Karl ****ing Alzner

Logan couture just turn 31 this winter, he sure will have 2 or 3 more season at a high level but is gane will start to decline after that and the 9th overall selection of this year will probably be a real good player by that time and since the Habs roster is built with young guns it make no sense for them to make this trade. They aren’t a contending team for at least the next 3 season so by that time Couture will be almost 35

Yea but 2 1firsts including one top 10 in a deep draft and Karl is just offsetting the cap charge, I’m on the fence I might pull the trigger, but I’d regret it for a few years before those picks make an NHL impact

Montreal aren’t chasing any player that are 30 + years old! They aren’t spending high draft pick capital for at least the next 2 or 3 season. By then Suzuki, Romanov, Kotkaniemi, Caufield and this year selection will be important pieces and guy like Ylonen, Harris, Norlinder will mic in nicely with the Danault, Gallagher, Weber, Price, Drouin and Tatar.

This might be close to fair value, but it’s just horrible for a team like the habs. And aging, highly paid centre on a long contract would be the absolute worst thing for this team to add. Only teams that are all-in, and don’t care about their future would consider this (although they don’t have the cap space.

Also, not a chance that the habs give up good assets to move Alzner.

Yeah Krug isn't wasting his time on Montreal, He doesn't want to play in Canada not sure what part of that people don't understand.
