He’s pretty good defensively. He is like a DeMelo type. Always makes the right reads. Those type of players are very valuable

They're really not tho. DeMelo was just traded for a 3rd. GMs aren't stupid, nobody gave up more for him so that's what Ottawa took and that's what they're valued at by GMs.
Cernak is younger so he'd be worth MAYBE a 2nd but if Tampa expects more than that they're better off not giving him up.

No it wasn’t because I’m not joking he was the best overall defenceman on the team this year. You’re prob right on the value, a 2nd and maybe a prospect. Make no mistake tho. You win with those types of guys on your lineup. Not just with a bunch of John Carlsons on defence

Well yeah I'm not denying DeMelo's effectiveness. I love the guy on our team but that doesn't make him worth a lot. The NHL is full of effective players and if every useful guy was worth a 1st and NHL calibre prospect we'd have like three trades a year.
