He was over a PPG in the AHL and has only a year left now. He was constantly a 30-40+ point pace guy in Vancouver. He never should’ve been sent down to the AHL to begin with.

As a Detroit fan I'd accept the Demko trade but I don't think Vancouver would. The only way Detroit takes Baertschi is if they are being compensated for the cap dump.

I’ve seen the demko trade around here a lot so I thought I’d repost it.

I don’t know why Baerstchi is treated like a cap dump when he’s a player who should be in the NHL but is getting mismanaged by the canucks organization. He also only has one year left. I figured the fabbri gamble worked out well for the wings. This could be a similar situation of buying low on a player who isn’t getting an opportunity elsewhere. If he stinks, just don’t resign him the following offseason. Detroit has plenty of cap to take that risk next year

In my opinion Detroit would need something in addition to Demko to take on Eriksson. Goalies are a big risk and almost always fetch less than expected in a trade.

I’ve seen that mock trade many times on here. I just figured it was a good fit

Not a Detroit or 'Nucks fan, but if I were you, I wouldn't.

I think Demko has a bright future, but he hasn't proved it at the NHL level (yet). If this were after Eriksson's $3 mil signing bonus is paid this summer, I'd probably think about it (only owed $5 mil over the next two years), but I'd have to be pretty confident in Demko to do it.

Not to mention, it's great to have a potential future number 1 coming, but do you really want to hang him out to dry like poor Bernier and Howard were this year? Seems like a bad way to ruin a prospect.

I don't think it's a typical "cap dump". I could see him being moved in a "Cash-in, cash-out" type trade, where Vancouver takes a similar salary back, but otherwise, the fact that he was passed over twice on waivers shows that there's not a lot of teams banging on the door for him.

The core of it is fine. I am all for a trade where we acquire Demko in exchange for taking on Eriksson. I just believe we need some additional value alongside Demko.

But I'm not sure Vancouver puts that much value on moving Eriksson contract.

I get that and if it was for a different player I would also agree. Detroit needs another goalie before next season because none of their prospects are ready and Pickard is awful. Demko is 24 so he could be with the Wings for a while. This trade would also eliminate the need to sign a stop gap goalie. $6M for 2 seasons is a lot but I think its worth it not having to worry about rushing one of the many goalie prospects Detroit has. But its just my opinion.

I’ve said this so many times but Eriksson’s contract should either cost a 1st+3rd/4th or Demko+2nd. I like Demko because he might actually be our goalie of the future which gives Wings fans something to be excited about but he has yet to prove anything at the NHL level which is why Vancouver would need to add.

But alot or most of those deals are from Ca uck fans.

With the cap staying the same, cap space is at a premium. Also Canucks If the sign Markstrom will lose Demko for nothing in expansion draft so for two years of 6 million cap hit it would be Demko plus.

I think if wings won the draft lottery and were closer to winning, they’d be more inclined to making this trade. I just wanted to use a trade which I saw plenty of times on cap friendly as a way to move Eriksson

But I'm not sure Vancouver puts that much value on moving Eriksson contract.

If they can get rid of the $6 mil cap hit on Eriksson, I'd assume it would put all of the Boeser trade talk to bed pretty quickly.

Dont think Demko is the asset that moves Eriksen. I think VAN should move on from markstrom and work with Demko
