3+5 is better than Lafreniere, and it doesn't even matter who you have where. Byfield+Perfetti, Stutzle+Rossi, hell even Raymond+Drysdale. Sens need to add multiple impact players, and in my opinion any combination of players with those two picks will combine to be far more impactful than Lafreniere will be on his own.
The reason there have been so many people suggesting trading the 1st overall pick makes sense, is the same reason that trading up for the 1st overall pick makes no sense. Lafreniere projects to be one of the best wingers in the league, but for all his skill, there's a limit to how much a winger is able to impact the game compared to a Center or a Dman. Picking 3 and 5 guarantees a top blue chip C prospect is available, and you're getting either a future top pair D, an elite winger or another potential 1C. I don't see how Lafreniere could ever be good enough for him to be more valuable than that. He would have to be Artemi Panarin times Mark Stone good.
