Panthers get shafted

Really? I figured that this move would be made by the panthers to try and win now. Keep in mind, the Devs take Stralmans contract giving Florida a lot of room going into free agency to make a splash, maybe even make a bid for hall.

Edit: After looking again the Panthers prob wouldn't have enough for a bid at Hall after this season, but with that said it still gives room to resign Dadonov and Hoffman.

A 1st round pick is a high price to pay for a cap dump this small

I mean Weegar is good but not as good as Severson, plus the dump, I think a first is fair, especially if Florida wins the Play-In.

Florida didn’t sign Stralman just to trade him in a cap dump the next year. IMO they should keep Weegar and Stralman, and instead of trading for a good D, draft a couple this year.

I think where we differ is the approach we each think Florida should take respectively. I feel as though Florida is at the point where they should start trading picks and depth players for impact/star players. I don't think Stralman is a very valuable piece of that team right now and Weegar is a young guy who right now is a second line defenceman at best even though he has potential. What would you think Florida should receive in return for their first, Stralman, and Weegar from the Devils?

It would for sure involve Severson, you were right there. But Severson isn’t worth a whole lot compared to those assets. I’d just add a good D prospect and a 3rd. So pretty similar to yours, except addressing more of their needs
