How many times do we have to say things like "Bennett is not, nor will he ever be an acceptable return for Anderson, ever, forever" before it finally sinks in? It doesn't matter how many picks you throw in. We. Don't. Want. Bennett.

How do you know what Jarmo wants?

Answer, you don't.

Value in that deal is just fine.

It's crap. It's always been crap. You know it's crap. I know it's crap. Everyone else here knows it's crap. Bennett does nothing for this team except take up cap space. He is not a desirable asset. He is a bust, and when you're trading busts that take up cap space, you pay us, not the other way around.

If Andy-for-a-2nd is desirable, try extending him an offer sheet and see if he signs, 'cause we're better off keeping him and trying for a bounceback to his prior NHL productivity than doing that trade and hoping that someone who has never produced at the NHL level somehow inexplicably learns how.

Nah, the value is fine.

Bennett is a bust in that he isn't what he was supposed to be, a top line NHL star.

He's still a gritty hard working bottom six winger who can provide toughness and depth scoring. There is also a chance that in a new environment he finds some more offense due to a myriad of reasons. He wouldn't be the first guy to do that, it happens all the time. He is easily worth a 2nd round pick value wise, so if you add the other 2nd round pick that's roughly two 2nds for a guy who is coming off a tough year, but has potential to bounce back to his 20+ goal form.

Nobody really cares if Viqsi wants Bennett or not, we've heard it many times now. Bottom line is the value is fine in this trade proposal.

We don't need bottom-6 players, and that's all Bennett has ever been and is all he's likely to ever be. For G-d's sake, we just dumped a guy who was more productive than him (and also drafted in the same round of that same draft) for a throwaway rental center at the deadline because we were done with playing the reclamation project game. We're not taking on another with an even bigger cap hit just because BurnEmUp wants to insist it's "fair". If he's so valuable and likely to bounce back, you can keep him.

Yeah, and then Anaheim took that player and played him in their top 6 and he started producing more.

Same thing could (and probably would) happen with Bennett if he is traded somewhere.

So that takes us back to my first question, what does Jarmo want?

We know Viqsi doesn't want Bennett, but would Jarmo? If no, then obviously no deal, but if he thought Bennett could turn into a top 6 player in a new environment and more ice time, then he probably pulls the trigger because the value is fair.

Pretty sure Kekalainen wants to keep Anderson and not trade him for a bust.
