Ha! Pittsburgh doesn't need a $6M forward, much less Saad.

Yeah, and so?

The Pens have players to resign and adding a $6M 40 point, not actually physical and meh defensively forward is not in the cards. (ChiStick's head just exploded)

Murray will be gone but I suspect it will be for prospects/picks which dont add cap. ELCs are also a possibility, but I expect straight futures.

This just isn't the best option for the Hawks. Sign Crow...a better goalie and keep Saad. Why lose any assets? I'm not suggesting this trade doesn't have value...it just doesn't make sense from the Hawls point of view.

We aught to take some goalies in this draft. I think we could invest our second round pick in Nico Daws. Crawford should be good for 2 years, after that we can sign a UFA.

There are tons of reasons this is not good.

A.) Crow's a better goalie. Hands down. Literally the highest HDGSAA in the entire NHL last season and the Hawks defense stunk.
B.) Murray stunk last year. Why are the Hawks risking anything at all for a rebounding goalie?
C.) Murray hasn't been paid yet. He's coming off a team friendly deal and he was a MAJOR contributor to their two previous cup runs...he's not taking a discount and CERTAINLY not if he's traded.
D.) Crow's been established, paid, but been vocal about still wanting to play. He's not going to hometown MTL nor anywhere rebuilding. CHI is the best place for him and he'll cost less than Murray due to injury history...not last year, and I believe tandem is a huge reason why...but still injury history.
E.) The threat of Murray's arbitration scares the heck out of me. Goalies have been getting WAY too much money lately for only playing half a season. Elvis, Binnington, Koskinen played less games and have less cups....COMBINED...when they got their contracts. Murray outplayed Flower AND THEN flower got a 3 year $7M deal. I hear the fluff about Murray signing a $5M deal and I just don't see it....ESPECIALLY if he gets traded. I mean that's a middle finger if I've ever seen one. AND For the record, I wouldn't blame Murray either. Get your money while you can.

So let's recap....a worse goalie...that'll cost more...and we lose assets? It's just really poor asset management. The Hawks aren't required to solve their goalie issues on July 12th 2020. They have some time.

I'd say its most definitely a forward.

I will admit I have come down on my stance on the hawks taking Askarov, but I'm still not keen* on it if there are some surprise players still available.

Off the bat, I agree that I’d rather have crow than Murray. No doubt. That being said, we do obviously need a solution to our goaltending long term. Preferably sooner rather than later.

Murray is the perfect example that winning two Stanley cups doesn’t mean a thing if your individual stats haven’t kept up. Murray isn’t worth giving up Saad. Saad may be a 40-50 point two way winger making 6 mil, but I’d rather have that as a “problem” than a notably inconsistent cup winning goalie.

Pens and hawks fans have had this discussion so many times. Hawks don't want murray and the pens can't affod saad. This trade needs to die

I agree with everything your saying, but why I think he's still going to make bank specifically from an arbitrator is because of his INCREDIBLE contributions during PIT's 2 cup runs. I honestly don't think they win either without him. BUT that's an arbitrator. They don't view the world the same way ACGMs do. arbitrators look back at comps. ACGM's look forward. You and me agree. We see inconsistency. An arbitrator is going to say Flower got $7M...Binnington with a grand total of 32 games and 1 less cup got $4.4M.

and pens shouldn't have any interest in Saad for Murray*** Just because Saad is from Pittsburgh all these pens fans have this fascination of acquiring him. Pens can keep Murray and bring in a cheaper RW on a better contract to play with Sid. We have no need for Saad after we got our guy Zucker

I 100% agree with you on this. $6M is too much for PIT to spend on a winger when Crosby has proven he the F'ing man and can be on the top line with guys that don't cost $6M. With that said...if the Hawks are out of it I could see a TDL deal with half retained being a pretty sweet line too.
