Trading 2OA

Description
Notation going in : if The Islanders don't advance out of the play in round, this trade doesn't happen. LA trades 2OA to Ottawa for 5OA, the NYI 1st round pick and a prospect. Ottawa makes a splash and has 2 & 3OA. They draft Byfield to center Tkachuk and ??? LA drops to 5OA and picks up the extra 1st. They draft a scoring winger, (Perfetti, Raymond, Holtz etc..) which their prospect pool needs. With the NYI 1st, they go BPA or package it with one of their 2nds to move higher up.

I've seen all the Leddy trades, and I don't want to take back Komorov. Also seen all the Edmundson chatter. I don't think he's the right guy. I'd take a shot at signing Brenden Dillon. Pre pandemic, I think he gets a longer deal then 2 years. How many teams have the cap space to pay him 4.5 million per for the next 2? LA gives an overpayment to entice him back to CA. He would then be a UFA again when the cap could be better.

Don't really have a need for Steen, but will take one year to get the extra 1st in 2022. Not sure that STL would pay that price.

The only Toronto players I'd be interested in are Nylander or Kapanen. Don't want any of the rest. Sign Clifford if you want, we'll take the upgraded pick.

Need to see more out of Austin Wagner, so I put his speed on the special teams. Time to step up or be bypassed by other prospects.

I don’t have Doughty or Kopitar killing penalties. As they age, these responsibilities need to be spread out. Let’s see how the young legs handle the PK.

I think Turcotte, Madden & Bjornfot will get their 9 games, possibly Thomas, Kupari (ACL rehab) and Hults as well. As much as I'd like to see Kaliyev make some noise, I think he's destined to go back to The O.

Before Covid, LA was finally putting it together. New coach (AGAIN) and a new system were finally starting to work. The integration of youth continues and team will still struggle to score.

Since it’s 1 year you could get a second but definitely not a first.

If LA is open to moving the pick I'd hope Guerin takes a big swing at trying to get it (assuming we don't win Laf). I'd imagine Kaprizov and Fiala are off the table, but everyone else is fair game.

Yeah, Ottawa would do that and would be thrilled to add Byfield and Stutzle to the roster.

If you are talking about Marleau, advanced stats show why Steen is still valuable compared to Marleau who fell off in all phases of the game whereas Steen still does give out Solid defensive performances consistently so if you want to say it says otherwise that’s wrong because you are looking at 2 totally different performing players. Marleau was a cap dump, Steen is just overpaid.

Hard to say, this year he took a massive jump in assists compared to others. 2 years ago he had 37 goals and 37 assists, this year he had same goals but 74 assists. His skating needs a lot of work but his game IQ is very good. A good might be Marchessault when comparing production style

I'm not specifically talking about Marleau no, there are more than 1 example of expensive cap dumps. Bryon Bickell for example.

Both of them fell off and had no beneficial phases of the game for any team just an overpaid dumpster can.

Why would the Kings do this? They can just pick at 2 and trade up to the late 1st round with all the 2nds,3rds,and 4ths.

If you want 2OA it will cost you 3OA and NYI 1st at least.

It all depends on where the NYI falls.

I think 5 and 13 for 2 is a fair deal in this deep a draft, but anything more than 15OA and its just not the right value.

We would need to add the CBJ 2nd, something in the ~45 range

Maybe, this but I really don’t know who the kings covet more, byfield or stutzle. I read something from an Ottawa guy (reporter or something of that sort) who had some sort of insight as to who the kings might take. He said it was stutzle. AJ jakubec was the guy and he said something like, he made calls around the league, and he has friends in Germany and who play in Germany that are well connected. “Stutzle May have been enjoying himself after the lottery because he whole heartedly believes stutzle will be LAs pick”... I don’t know how this guy is but this may or may not be true. He also went on to say that Sturm (LAs assistant coach) has been keeping tabs on stutzle. And that Ownership has family ties (cool if true)

I'm quite certain they will go for Stutzle but I think if given the option they may try and trade up to #1

Yeah I’ve wondered this myself. Like let’s say, god forbid, a Toronto or Pittsburgh wins would they trade it? I doubt it. Would, say, Minnesota trade down to select byfield as they covet that #1/2 C? Maybe the kings trade 2, van 2nd,Thomas, and lizotte to Minnesota for #1. honestly is this an overpay or underpay, I really don’t know. I’ve never seen a number 1 get traded except Columbus when they traded to get Nash.
