Mantha is arguably Detroit's best player. You're going to need to overpay, and thats an underpayment.

why would van do that deal, it came out their trying to trade boeser for cap relief to sign hughes and petterson, so they wouldn't take back a contract
for mantha you have to give at least the 2020 first

If you are Detroit, would you trade Mantha for AA, Benning and Jones? Cuz that's basically what you are doing. Not enough value nor quality.

Larkin is the best player by far. Mantha is a 25goals/50 pts winger who just can't stay healthy. I agree that he holds the best value comparing to Drouin because of his all around game but not by a large margin. Both showed a lot of inconsistency since entering the NHL and average the same kind of production.

I don't think you have watched much of Mantha then. 38 points in 43 games ON DETROIT. Larkin is good all around, solid 1C or good 2C. A very good argument could be made that Mantha's shot is elite, and certainly that top line was very different with him. He would need a significant overpay, and this is an underpayment.

His injury prone label is really disingenuous the 60, 67, 43 (shortened season) were due to fights (Nemeth, Witkowski) or from a body slam from Muzzin. All injuries are not long term but if you don’t watch the Red Wings regularly I get it.

Playing with Larkin and Bertuzzi averaging 19min a game with first PP of course he gets those numbers. I agree that his shot is elite but he lacks some other thing too. I'm not saying he's bad, I like him a lot but he's not the next big thing either. Drouin had 15pts in 19 game playing with KK and Armia before his big injury. Both are good top6 wingers and I would take mantha over Drouin of course but the difference isn't that much. I don't think it would have to be a huge overpay to get him out of DET, he's not a franchise player either. This offer may not be enough but I think youre a little too high on him.

That is the feeling of the Red Wings fanbase and organisation. And really. What is their justification to move him here he's getting on fine in Detroit?

Not much but it's the case in half of the trade propositions on this site. If I had to figured out one tho, we could argue that trading him for valuable future assets like picks and prospects wouldn't be so bad since he will be 30 by the time Detroit is good again but even this statements have flaws because 30 isn't that old and those young players need good mentors. I'm just saying it's possible

That's why I always Mantha is Detroit most talented player, Larkin is the better player because he works harder and his compete level is always high. Mantha can get lazy at times but the way he started last season it looked like he was going to breakout and ditch the lazy title for good. I do agree Detroit has no plans to trade him and he has said that he's looking forward to signing a long contract to stay Detroit. It would take an extreme overpay to pry him loose from Detroit.

He has had 3 injuries were he missed significant time and quite a few people think he is injury prone. That''s not really the case his first 2 injuries broken finger and a broken hand from fighting. Both could have been avoided by not fighting.
