Detroit passes, you can peddle him somewhere else, not giving up a 2nd or a 3rd for that guy. We are rebuilding and the pick is way more valuable then kerfoot.

To give Travis Dermott a raise from $863,333? Or Ilya Mikheyev from $925,000? The two of them alone could eat up the $3.7 million between them, if not more. That’s a roster of 20.

Your 500k below what a local writer thinks.

The Leafs are not alone in this cap crunch. The return probably wouldn’t be much. Trading Patrick Marleau last year to create cap space to sign Mitch Marner cost the Leafs a first-round pick. Get used to trades like that.

Meaning not going to get anywhere near a 2nd.

rebuilding teams aren't giving you 2nd round picks for that.

moving wingers is not an ideal place to be in for sure. Multiple teams are looking to move wingers and there is a decent winger market if not better than what is available for trade out there.

Teams moving centers will have much better luck. Does Kerfoot count there, not really sure. But the center market is bare.
That doesn't mean they can get an arm and a leg for guys, they won't. But they will be able to move them.
I think both Kerfoot and Bjugstad can both be moved easily with no real return expected. And both teams will get the cap space they need.

I dont think Detroit does it but personally I like the move. Hes a middle 6 guy who has skill and can play center which we need desperately. He's a 45 PT guy and only 25. Steve went hunting bargains last year to try an catch lightning but he may be a bit more conservative a year in and take a few sure things.

There are like 2 centers out there so I agree guys like bug and kerfoot and maybe even some rfa guys like the strome boys could fetch a good price.

Doesn’t really make sense for the Wings to give up any draft picks. I’d probably take Johnsson for a 3rd though since he’s younger.
