If VAN can sign Markstrom to a reasonable deal then they should definitely use Demko as the currency and try to save their 1st round pick.

I agree. Markstrom is the clear starter and the Canucks might have to trade Demko anyway before the Expansion draft. Also a good market for goalies this offseason so the Canucks could sign a cheap backup.

I'm glad Detroit fans like that deal because I do too.

I'm good with pretty much everything you did except the Boeser trade. Getting a top 10 pick in this draft is good value, but there aren't a lot of RH defensemen in that range. I think Dobson/Pulock are still the best targets.

You also need to include 1.7M in dead cap space due to performance bonuses for Pettersson and Hughes. Or 850k in bonuses with the other half being enforced the year after, but I'd rather avoid that since that's when they need new contracts.

VAN decline, if there happens to be chance they move Boeser they want a top 4 defender back who can play now.

That Boeser deal is probably right, value-wise. I wouldn't do it though.

That Eriksson deal is a pipe dream, IMO. 1 year of Marleau's $6M contract cost Toronto a first round pick to ditch. 2 years of Eriksson @ $6M in flat cap world is going to cost a whole lot more.

A good market for goalies also means a guy like Demko won't have as much trade value. It cuts both ways.

I don't think the Isles will move either of Pulock or Dobson, but I like them both as well. And I've got 3.5M in cap space in this ACGM, more than enough for the bonuses.

You might be right on Eriksson. And there will be some goalies on the market, but after the starter quality guys are signed for big money, there's only older backups left. Demko would be a guy a rebuilding team could have as a starter for years.

@bb1983 Dubas got fleeced in that deal. Tor was tight against the cap and had to sign Marner, VAN Van probably live with Erikssons contract for another year until they need to resign Hughes and Patterson. The only teams that could be robbed like TOR this year are STL and TB IMO.

I think the Islanders would be more likely to give up Dobson than Pulock, but a trade built around either one of them would be fine by me.

The bonus thing was just for future reference. I haven't seen many people include it.

And Chicago needing to re-sign 30 goal scorer Dominik Kubalik and a starting goalie plus Dylan Strome, plus another 2 guys with 7.35M left.

And Arizona with 1.5M (plus Hossa's LTIR relief) wanting to re-sign Hall.

And Toronto with 4.5M needing to re-sign 4th line C--Gauthier--and d-man Travis Dermott, and prospect likely to make the team Teemu Kivihalme: plus get better on defense.
