If the Canucks want to sign Markstrom and Toffoli they shouldn't trade Boeser to create cap space, they should use Demko and Virtanen as trade chips to dump Beagle, Roussel and Eriksson obviously but that's a tough one to move, realy don't see what the worry is with Sutter and Baertschi's contracts, it's the other three with their last year still on the books when Pettersson and Hughes needing raises that I'd be concerned about.
Signing Markstrom long term and having Dipietro in the system make Demko expendable, if someone sees him as a potential starter deal him with Beagle and you could probably still get a decent/okay return.
With the wing prospects the Canucks have along with Boeser and the want to sign Toffoli plus wingers being fairly easy to sign in free agency imo it makes sense to trade Virtanen to dump Roussel and with Roussel being an okay player the return probably isn't terrible like a regular cap dump trade would be.
Having said that there isn't a lot of teams with cap space so dump trades aren't gonna be easy to make but I could see a rebuilding team like the Wings having interest in young players like Demko and Virtanen along with the cap space to take on Beagle or Roussel.
