hall doesn't make any sense for the avs. it makes landeskog and makar unaffordable next season. i think the avs would rather have cole more than a mid-late pick.

I’d be ok with Hall. I wouldn’t be ok with Hall for 5 or more yrs.

You’re right about Cole, not exactly right about Hall. They could still sign them both w/existing cap space and the fact guys like Cole, Calvert and PEB (combined $9M) would be coming off the book. Add in somebody like Donskoi or Compher is taken in the expansion draft and it gets even easier. That being said I don’t think they should sign him either.

it doesn't work. you'd have to fill the entire roster with elc that the avs don't have. on top of that hall is a 5 year commitment. everyone on elc's will be off it by then. it just doesn't work if you want to keep any the big names.

It does work though. Compher, Zadorov, and Donskoi have to go, but that's most likely it (and two are gone anyway). It's tight but doable. You end up here:

Landy, Mack, Mikko
Hall, Naz, Burky
Newhook, Jost, Nuke
Kaut, Bowers LOC

Graves, Makar
Girard, Johnson
Byram, Timmins

Lots of youngsters, especially on that fourth line, but I think that's ok. The fourth liners are gonna get squeezed hard in this cap environment, so you can always plug a hole if say Bowers isn't quite ready.

Will do. At worst maybe you lose one more guy but I think it's doable. Probably won't get Makar for 8 years but I think it's fair to assume everyone gets squeezed a bit.

i think it'll just fit for one year then the avs are screwed after that.

It's undoubtedly tight, but like I say, everyone will get squeezed.

Anyway, it's up. Check it out.

That’s just not true. Look at the long term outlook tab, even signing Hall going into the 21-22 year they would have over $22M in cap space, yes a sizable chunk goes to Makar and Landeskog and Grubauer maybe, but it by no means is Armageddon. Also I’m not advocating signing Hall for what it is worth I’m just saying it’s possible.

no one said armageddon. you'd have to move another top 6 forward/top 4 defensemen or gut the depth and replace with elc's. getting hall is do-able but not without making sacrifices.
